Songs that go on for too long...

Hotel California - The Eagles

If the length of that isn't bad enough imagine my horror last year -
I helped a band out because the singer was suffering and the very last song of the night was Hotel California.
I got up and did my bit and left the stage when the singing was over.
Now the problem was it was the drummers last gig with the band and he didn't want to end the song so everytime the end was in sight he kept driving them to keep soloing.
The song lasted a hefty 21 minutes
Even worse was the encore -
It was Freebird and that lasted 23 minutes because the drummer didn't want it to end

BTW ElvisFan have you seen this? - http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.u...uleName=InternalSearch&formname=sidebarsearch
Its a pity he can't get gigs in this country because nobody will have him.

Cheers for the link Dave. I know people who'll have kittens when they read it.

By the way, I know what you mean about Freebird. My nephew likes to torture me with it on his Guitar Hero game. :D

What is the actual reason as to why you despite and loathe Pink Floyd?
Don't feed the troll.

;) :p

The only song for me that really outstays its welcome is 'Dogs' at whopping 17 and a bit minutes.

4. There's usually no discernable talent.
5. The songs are too long.
6. That ****ing stupid flying pig.
7. The fact that they have such a hardcore following. Its like an entire generation got brainwashed.
8. They're crap.
9. They're pretentious.
10. They're overrated.

I love how you think 'they're crap' is actually a fact. :D

My ten reasons for loving Floyd:

1. They're awesome.
2. The music is atmospheric and takes you places
3. They're awesome.
4. Some of the finest talent to come out of the 60's, with some lyrical moments of genuis and some of the most melodious guitar playing I've ever heard
5. The songs are long!
6. The fantastic album artwork / lighting / stage design that adds to the meaning of the music
7. The fact that they have such a hardcore following means their music will be alive for a long time to come
8. They're awesome.
9. Although not together, they still keep on going as solo artists
10. They quite rightly deserve a proud place in the UK Music Hall of Fame

I'd put money on Gilly replying along these lines...

Of course, in saying that they're crap - I don't mean that they're actually crap - the phrase "i THINK they're crap" is already implied. As much as I'll never get you to hate them, you'll never get me to like them, so this debate/argument/conversation/what-have-you is pointless

have I had this conversation with Gilly before? Who knows??
