I meant the demo from Sonic remix. Not sure about Sonic 2 HD

If its exactly the same as the original from Sega, but in HD with exact sounds etc then it will be superb

The Remix was a proof of concept more than anything, they may finish, they may be squashed by Sega's lawyers, as it seems to be superior to their own efforts :)

I liked what they did, but all the flashy stuff was a bit distracting. Sonic 2 HD looks more like a rounded concept
 
Sega will try to shut this down as they just released several Sonic games on PC via Steam......

What they should do is get these coders to re-make the games for them in HD ;)

For
those who haven’t seen S2HD since the Tech Demo, you’ll notice that
just about everything has been rebuilt from the ground up. What isn’t as
obvious is that everything behind the scenes was scrapped as well:
shortly after the Tech Demo’s release, the engine used was thrown away
in favor of an even more accurate engine in the works--one capable of
far more expansion than was originally imagined. In the year that
followed the art direction also saw massive changes, and, from late
spring of 2010, the finalized art style brought about the last wave of
changes to everything that had been created previously. All of Sonic’s
movement frames were redone. All the Badniks were scrapped and
redesigned. Many of the level art assets underwent the same treatment.

The result of these changes is reflected in what you now see.

Personally, I think there was too much going on in the Sonic Remix demo, too fussy. Looks amazing, don't get me wrong. The Sonic 2 HD above looks a lot cleaner, and closer the original. My likes

I like the clean look as well.
 
After spending nearly two years in development, the fan-made platformer tribute Sonic the Hedgehog 2 HD has at last seen a demo release for Windows platforms.


Offering "an unofficial, complete overhaul of Sega's franchise classic for the modern world," Sonic 2 HD updates the 1992 Sega Genesis title with redrawn graphics, widescreen support, remixed music, an online multiplayer mode, and the addition of Knuckles as a playable character. The alpha release is playable up to the end of the Emerald Hill Zone.


Though it solicited extensive fan input for its initial planning stages, the project will "continue a closed development cycle" from this point forward, Sonic Retro notes. A release date for the finished product has not been announced.

This is perhaps the greatest thing to ever happen :eek:

Why on earth couldn't Sega do this It's like the remake of FFVII that everyone wants, just update the GFX and sounds and leave everything else intact, stop messing about.
 
This is Epic tbh ! Sonic 2 is by far my fav sonic game EVER ! It was the first game I got with my Mega Drive (it came bundled with the Mega Drive 2) :D I played it to death ! getting all the choas emeralds to unlock super sonic which was insanely fun.

Cant wait for the full ver. Really REALLY good find Neil !
 
Are you guys adding the folders/executable in your anti virus exceptions list? Supposedly there is a false positive in there somewhere
