Sonic Generations

I haven't actually played any of the new Sonic games (apart from demos) because I read such bad things about them all.

You sound like me, I love the feel of the old ones, and this one probably would end up being a disappointment for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 on the Dreamcast, especially the challenges/timetrials/secrets. Spent a fortune on batteries for my VMU training up my chao :o Don't nearly have as much time as I used to. The controls were a bit annoying sometimes though. I'm going to get SG over Christmas, good to see Sega games making it to PC.

Now where's Sonic 4 for Steam!?

I bought the retail PC version of this for £13. It's still a Steamworks game but at least I got some extra savings out of it. £19.99 on Steam itself.

The game runs like a dream if you have a decent PC. Other than a few zones being quite stuttering like the Chemical Plant, the game runs a smooth 60fps+.

I tried a demo on the PS3 and whilst it was great, I just couldn't bear with the lower framerate. Though the console versions are the only ones to get the Collector's Edition if you were lucky.

I have the Japanese 10th Anniversary pack for the Dreamcast (Sonic Adventure 2 + goodies), but I just couldn't afford this 20th. :(

Currently trying to take out the Egg Dragoon Boss on the home console version which is giving me some problems when trying to give the boss the final hit. Keep on having random glitches causing me die.

Started playing the 3DS version which has more of the classic 2D Sonic feel to it but even the current generation Sonic stages are in 2.5D no full 3D. So I don’t see why Sega didn’t release this on the normal DS as nothing is graphically demanding in the game which the normal DS cant do.

Only problem I have with this game really is the constant replying levels and challenges. Simply going from A to B, collecting chaos emerald, taking out the boss then moving onto the next stage I would be happy with.

Pretty much just an excuse to use the stereoscopic 3D and besides, I rather it be 2.5D only since it suits the handheld playstyle.

I am a really big sonic fan loved 1,2,3, spinball sonic&knuckles and sonic 4.

I dont think much of the more recent sonic games (3d) but SG is the best sonic game since the origanals and 4, I even liked the 3d parts as well. I was hoping for more classic sonic zones and less of all the challenges but overall i thought it was pretty good.

I think Sega have finally got it right hopefully we will see more sonic games like this.

This worth buying then? I liked the old Sonics but can't say a whole lot about em as I was very young when I played em (the megadrive versions atleast) though I did really like sonic adventure 1 and 2 which was only a few years back

How long would it take to complete it 100%? I ended up doing that in SA 1/2

If you really liked SA 1 & 2, then you would probably like the redone versions of Speed Highway and City Escape especially for modern Sonic. They were pretty damn awesome back on the Dreamcast, but the Generations versions adds some new twists.

It would probably take a few days worth easy to complete 100%, or pretty much the same length as SA 1 & 2. The challenge modes are basically redoing the same stages again, but they also add some variations. More or less similar to collecting the emblems from previous games.

Loads of places are selling it for £17.99 now so it's worth a try.
