Sonic Generations confirmed for PC
Digital delivery services put the official stamp on a PC version

Sega will be serving up Sonic goodness to PC gamers too with Sonic Generations.

A PC version of the mascot's tribute title has been rumored in the past, particularly when Sega listed PC as a platform in a Japanese earnings report.

Putting confirmation on it, PC digital distribution services Direct2Drive and Green Man Gaming have listed the title for pre-order for $29.99.

The new game will have both classic Sonic and the modern-day, green-eyed equivalent revisiting classic Sonic levels - in both 3D and 2D side-scrolling.

It's out on November 4.

;)

Wicked, didn't know this. Will hold off on getting the PS3 version then.

Thanks for the heads up you two. +rep :)

Ah good news then. Just in that recent trailer at the end it showed just for consoles.

Hmm lookin at the wiki it seems it is single player. Whilst that is great in itself i do admit i had a load of fun with sonic 2 when i played with others split screen. Shame that wont be in which true i guess you dont usually have split screen on pc but the other usual mp way would have worked i would have thought. Actually a sonic version of trackmania (sonic and pals instead of cars) would be freakin awesome. :p

I think they asume PC gamers don't watch TV. The Rage adverts show PC footage but only Xbox and PS3 boxes at the end of it.

I wonder if they'll do anything about the framerate. The PSN demo from a while back was 30fps, and on fast moving game like Sonic, it looks awful.

For anyone who's interested Green Man Gaming have this for pre-order @ £16.95 at the moment (15% off). Using their current 20% off voucher on top of this brings it down to £13.56.

Steamworks game too.

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO – 8th October, 2011 – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. are delighted to confirm that Sonic Generations™ will be released on PC and available via SEGA’s partners for PC digital download in November this year. Sonic Generations™ is the ultimate celebration of 20 years of Sonic the Hedgehog and sees SEGA’s iconic mascot racing through a brand new adventure as both the much loved classic 1991 character, and the modern day video game hero he has become today.

Sonic Generations™ for PC digital includes Steamworks features such as Steam Cloud, which allows save files to be stored on Steam’s servers so you can resume your game progress from any PC. As with the other console platforms, Sonic Generations™ will be available to play in full stereoscopic 3D and will contain Achievements and online leaderboards.

Sonic Generations™ will be available via PC digital download as well as Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system on 4th November 2011.

Hopefully it should be unlocked to take advantage.

Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing was so much better on the PC in the performance, though no online multiplayer sucked really hard.
