Does anyone have these headphones?

I got them to go with my new Ipod but am a bit dubious about the bass performance, there seems very little of it and the Ipod's crappy EQ settings hardly let me change it. Using "treble reducer" EQ probably benefits me most but still not the best when volume is turned up.

I take it there is no way to set custom EQ's on the Ipod?

What headphones are renouwned for bass?

my sony ex71s have more bass than my 85s, but the 85s sound clearer.

but i am using them with a sony a808 mp3 player.

i got rid of my ipod because of the sound quality.

get a sony mp3 fair enough you dont get as much hdd space but for sound quality its superb

you can edit the eq settings before you transfer using itunes and it does make a bit of diff, but the ipod dont like it and starts to distort the audio

Read up about it now, don't think I would like to do it. Just need new headphones!!

So can anyone recommend some decent bassy headphones?

Cheers

Tape up the 3 vents on the EX85 - better soundquality and tones of BASS!

Which three vents??

Heres a pic of them.

Try 3-4 layers of clingfilm - As long as you are not tone deaf you will hear MASSIVE differance! Have a look for EX90 modding thread on headfi.org.

These headphones with mod are VERY bassy and dark and you will be unlikey to find anything under £150 that will match them. If you sitll getting no bass with mod - make sure you putting the ex85s in your ear cannal in the right way - if they dont seal in your ears you will have no bass.

Cheers,

I guess bluetack should do the trick as long as it doesn't fall down my ear  , will try again tonight.

If I do find a difference, whats a long term way to close up these vents?

Actually heres another option for a pair of decent in-ear headphones...possibly the best and nicest fitting earphones ive ever had the pleasure of using including my shure e2cs, which caused me all manners of ear-ache.

They sound brilliant with my ipod and n95 phone...as i said probably the best earphones ive ever had the pleasure of using and they look the part as well.

I picked up a pair of vmoda vibe earphones, got them in a gunmetal black colour...think they cost me about £60 or so

v-moda earphones

ex90's are great! unfortunately, mine just got stolen. along with my iaudio d2. and my 8gb sd memory card

well in that case, you'll be out cold with excitement when you pair them with a proper mp3 player;)

Oh well isnt that a shame:(...personally i dont really care whether you think the ipod is a proper mp3 player or not. I find it does the job just fine ie plays mp3s and thats all im concerned about...not bothered about video playback and other fancy features...havent even used the video playback feature on my ipod.
Thats all i hear you harp/bleat on about miller...how you think the ipods arent proper mp3 players...so tell me...what exactly is a proper mp3 player?? or what makes an mp3 player a proper one??

wow you got out on the wrong side of the bed. i was referring only to sound quality. players like the iaudio d2/recent sony's put the ipods to shame and they would do your earphones a good justice.

i dont really think your reply was needed was it?

no, neither do i. i use (well, used lol) my d2 for audio only. its a very neat little player and no doubt ill get one again, or possibly hold out for the now x7 whenever that is finally released. not sure yet:)
