Sony centre?
Closest one to me is an hours drive away...
Not even sure they'd have it in stock either! Will give them a ring but the cost of fuel getting would mean i may as well pay a little extra for the 1050...
Seriously considering a 1050 to replace my Yamaha RX-V765. Just replaced my Q Acoustics with some B&Q 684 fronts, HTM62 centre and 686 rears and I dont know if it is the amp, if the B&W's are more "clinical" or what but there is a serious lack of low end. The 684's are bi-amped and in "pure direct" (no processing, stereo only) there is a severe lack of bass. I have a BK Monolith for sub duties so problem there but I expected more from the 684's some how.
With 165W epr channel on the 1050, bi-amped, and Raymonds comment about loads of low end I expect good things. Should I be looking somewhere else before I take the plunge or some testing or something?
Hard to say unless you do a direct comparison.
Although I would think your Monolith would give you the low end you crave though, i "only" have the smaller brother - XLS400.
I have found the Monolith more than capable in home theatre duties, but when it comes to music I find it lacking. That is why I test/have my front stage in "pure direct" mode on my amp when testing music.
Been on the sauce a little tonight so tomorrow I will do some more tests with better ear. There will be a solution![]()
Amp turned up today! Thank god they use DPD.
Looking forward to hearing it...not looking forward to the process in which to get to hearing it...urgh!
Actually, that is relatively painless, the sound field detection thing is surprisingly short and basic compare to the Pioneer.
That being said, if it requires an update, it will take a good 20 minutes. It will turn itself on and off a couple of times so don't be alarmed.
Not so much that bit but the wiring...URGH! Effort!
Would be good now as my old DA1200ES only did HDMI pass through so i was reliant on phonos and optical!

Awful job isn't it! I figured it would be a 5 minute job swapping the amp, only to discover I never got around to installing the banana plugs on the amp end of the speaker wires.
Then I couldn't find the safe place I'd put the banana plugs , so just installed it using bare wires. On the upside I pulled out lots of now redundant optical, phono and component leads.
Yep, no banana plugs and a load of cable management! Got rid of a load of redundant optical and phono cables now though!
Just updating...how long does this take?![]()
About 20min, may be 30.
I did warn you! Lol
