Sony To Buy Rockstar?

Viva the Pinananata is considered as one of the most underrated 360 games around. Kameo is amongst one of my most beautiful titles to grace the 360 visually. I even wrote to Rare to congratulate them on the game, and for showing off the 360's power ala the incredible elves v troll war.

Kameo is one of my favorite 360 games and I am currently on mission to get all the Rare games for my new N64 as they were my favorite Dev from that era. For a launch title Kameo really shames a lot of stuff we are seeing now in both graphics and gameplay. I miss my platformers :(

The story has now been completely removed from PSU.com - I guess maybe they were jumping the gun a bit on that one!!!

has produced several blockbuster franchises, including the Grand Theft Auto series of games, Manhunt and Bully.
So just GTA then.

I was surprised at Kameo, its a good game, and always been a fan of rare, except probably that stint of GC/XBOX, they seem to be getting back on their feet again.

N64 was the best time for rare... Blast corps... Wish they would remake that.

Ah I have blast corps it is absolutely superb, perfect for a xbla release imo.
You guys reckon Viva Pinata is worth getting on a certain 2 for £35 deal? I have meant to pick it up for a while but not got round to it yet?

Back OT I don't see that happening at this point in time despite take twos recent wobbles.

Rockstar games are great but rarely depart too far from the open world formula they are famous for. I wouldn't want to see them bought just to churn out more of the same on a yearly basis.

"only" the biggest selling game series ever yea

there over games are all above average too , better than allot of companys make

can instantly think of 5 people from college/work who if this happened would instantly go trade in there beloved 360s  infact most people i know with one woudl pro bly do it based only on GTA

almost 100% sure it wont happen mind

Rare haven't lived up to their name since being acquired by Microsoft, though.
A lot of the team that made RARE great have left, people forget this, however, they are still one of the best going.

Viva Pinata as an example is already nominated for a LOT of awards this year at the GJ's amongst others.

Why did the people leave Rare?

Had they left before, or was it as a result of Microsoft's acquisition?
Left before the acquisition. Theres a good wiki article about it.

Also I'm not a fan of Rockstars games tbh. I never owned a PS2 but did have the GTAs on the PC. They were ok but I don't find it the OMGWTFBBQ games.

With Rockstar doing the exclusive DLC with MS I would say they are a bit closer with them at the mo. If Sony bought them I can see MS being very wizzed off and probably no longer supporting them.

Considering Microsoft paid them all that cash to get the content if Rockstar suddenly were bought by Sony then a lawsuit would probably be cooked up.

Anyway it's not gonna happen, PSU is full of crap.

Same here, never saw what all the fuss was about...

Have a listen to this interview about the new Rock star exclusive with Jack Tretton http://www.deeko.com/news/?p=3237
( I know its probably spin), its a bit more detailed than this but, basically they let Rock star out of the exclusivity deal for GTA4, for exchange with there next big franchise. Maybe Rock star and Sony are closer than many believe, but not in a incognito, insomniac kinda way, and I dont think Rock star would ever go all out PS3 exclusive even if there next big franchise is.
