*** Sony Xperia Z3 Compact ***

Stay away from Simply Electronics. Throw your money down the drain instead. You have a better chance of refining the money from the water than getting a phone from them.

I did google the name after that place was suggested :) Their reviews..... aren't the best :)

So i definitely need a new phone attempted to fix my nexus 5 screen (had to seperate the lcd from the outer glass) lcd doesnt work now, i was putting off getting one after i read a few reports of the self cracking screens. Anyways is mobiledirect the best place to buy sim free?? £335 it is

I ordered mine on an £18/mo contract with mobiles.co.uk - £432 total over 2 years

Otherwise you can get it from mobile phones direct SIM-free for about £335.

Mine should be delivered tomorrow, but not likely to have a case for a few days at least :(

I bought the exact same deal with them too. I have had 2 phones from them until now and am waiting for my third one to come.

The first one was faulty (signal issues), and the replacement they sent had a dent at the bottom which I sent straight back. Now I am waiting for the 3rd one and am hoping it will be brand new and that it will be last one so I can keep it.

I hope they're not sending customers refurbished handsets as new. It is unacceptable. Despite me going on their online chat about 2 times to make sure that it will come when they said it will, it didn't come and came a day after. They don't have a clue and just make things up.

I had to go on their online chat and wait in the queue for 2.5 hours before I could chat to someone. Ridiculous

Anyone experiencing data connection dropping out then not returning until the phone is rebooted?

Only noticed it over the last couple of days but it's becomming very annoying. Seems an odd thing to happen, suspect it might even be network related so will probably wait a few days. Failing that it looks like a reset is in order as a first port of call

Are you with Three by any chance? If so, fix that here.

I am on the Three network and this always happens to me. I have to put the phone in to flight mode and then take it out of flight mode to fix it. Sometimes the data connection would start working itself after a few minutes. Very annoying, but come to think of it, it has has happened on all the phones I have had I think

Thanks. I never knew of this fix.

Thanks. I never knew of this fix.

It was driving me nuts so started diving into the service menus - thankfully the setting sticks even after reboots.

I have decided to remove the Rhinoshield front protector as my Ultimateshield Premium tempered glass film protector arrived today.
I have to say that the Ultimateshield is really great.
The feel is so smooth and it doesn't attract fingerprints like the Rhinoshield. The fit is perfect and the phone retains it's great looks as you can't really notice the protector on it.
Also the edges are rounded off nice and smoothly so you won't feel any sharp feeling on the edges.
I also found that the Rhioshield suffered from the sharp edge problem.

I got mine from Amazon UK
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ultimate-Sh...40&sr=1-1&keywords=ultimate+shield+z3+compact

Or you can buy it from UltimateShield's site
http://www.ultimateshield.co.uk/sony-xperia-z3-compact-tempered-glass-screen-protector/

I also got the Maximum protectors for the front, back and sides which are film like cutouts that require a wet soapy water application.
http://www.ultimateshield.co.uk/sony-xperia-z3-compact-screen-protector/

I have removed the Rhinoshield back protector and applied the UltimateShield's back protector and so far so good.
The cutouts give enough space for the led flash to clear so it doesn't suffer from the flash problem of the Rhinoshield that is found by users on the xda developers myself included
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/accessories/screen-protector-films-t2873595/page20

Also because of the material of the back protector is a flim like substance it's really made the back feel grippy so no more slippery phone.
The protector itself is a 0.1mm from the edge but it's hardly noticable.

Here are some updated pics of the phone now with the Ultimateshield tempered front glass and the normal side and back protectors. The pics show that my application of the side protectors are a little bit wonky but in reality you can't hardly see the protectors at all!
It looks like the phone is naked.
Sorry for the cr*p pics, I sold my Nokia Lumia 1020 and had to use the camera on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S.

Sd card, sim card and magnector charge port side protectors

Just a heads up...the Remote Play app is up on the Google Play Store...it works...that's all I'll say :p

Connection was dropping out from time to time when I was using it however it does look great to be honest. Will need to see if the stability improves by the update.

Now I just need a controller/phone mount :p

Just got my handset today, all looks good. I am going to change this setting today and hope it fixes this issue for good.

Btw I was looking at the magnetic port closely and on the bottom side between the magnetic port and chassis there's a small gap. Does anyone else have this?

Just wondering if it's made like that as I don't want water getting in there.

(Not my pic. just showing where I am talking about.)

I'm quite tempted with the Z3c to replace my 32GB Nexus 5 as I'd like a phone with larger storage but the thing that's holding me back is the lower resolution screen!

Has anyone gone from the N5 to the Z3c and can comment on the quality difference? (most of the other specs seem to be much of a muchness!)

I'd imagine that the difference is barely noticeable to the naked eye but thought I'd ask!

Not letting me order from mobilephonesdirect, cant check out i just get a web page with a error on when im logged in so thinking of buying off amazon from expite electronics anyone ordered from there before? Ive never ordered off amazon before. What are they like for returns if theres a fault with the phone??

I would recommend buying directly from Amazon and not from third party Sellers.

Amazon's customer service is the best. If you have a problem with your phone they send a new one out straight away and you can send the faulty one back after you've received the replacement. With third party Sellers you may not get the same top class service.

I once bought a phone from Amazon and 6 months down the line it became faulty, they sent out a brand new replacement the same day no questions asked. I sometimes think that a lot of people must be abusing this system.

£378 for black or £6 more for a white version not sure what to get. Whats your preferences over the black or white version? Will be buying on my dinner break

I went for white and it looks great. From photo's the black one looked a little boring, but then a white phone isnt for everyone. I like seeing the black screen contract with the white border on the front of the phone.

Im really tempted get the white but a bloke was sitting across the table from me at work with a iphone 5s and the white and silver on the z3 compqct reminded me of the iphoe and it put me off abit haha will more than likely go for white though now justgot to wait til i finish work to order as my phone was playing up earlier

Can anyone confirm whether the Z3 Compact takes a micro or nano SIM (or both!)?? Most sites seem to suggest nano SIM but the review by Stuff magazine says it has slots for both??

The rest of the Z3 Compact will be familiar to Sony fans. Its microUSB, microSIM and nanoSIM ports are all covered by flaps, which allow it to happily swim around in up to 1.5 metres of water for 30 minutes – that’s the highest waterproof rating in a Sony phone to date.

I'm wondering if they mean "micro-SD" rather than "micro-SIM"??? (which would make more sense!)

Thanks...
