**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

Has anyone noticed an increase in operating temperatures since the last OTA update?

I've never had a problem with overheating on the Z3 previously and I've owned a couple of different devices.

However I am now receiving overheating notifications whilst in the camera app, only after a very short period of time, mainly using the viewfinder and also in an after market gallery application.

Not sure if the camera app is the same on the Z3 as the Z2, but on Superior Auto, does anyone know what resolution it takes pics at as there isn't a choice, only in manual mode? (Running 5.1.1)

[Edit] Just seen the resolution of one of my pics taken on auto is 8MP, can I somehow change this to 20MP?

Slap it in Manual, Auto ISO, Matrix metering, -1EV and that's it, choose your resolution, enable Image Stabiliser for stills and pictures will come out great :)

Sending mine back to Sony, some sort of battery issue. It started around 3 weeks ago, had phone in my pocket and I noticed my leg getting v hot. Pulled phone out and see the emergency dialler up. Unlocked the phone and had loads of emails from cerberus entering wrong unlock code. I had over 130 pictures stored of complete darkness.. Inside of my pocket must've been touching the screen, unlocking screen and entering random numbers kicking off cerberus wrong code alert (gps/email/photo)

Since then it's constantly dropping to 50%, 'spiking' all over the place, tried restart, factory reset and even the new 5.1.1 firmware hasn't fixed it. Powering down the phone and charging it switched off the battery doesn't read correctly. Here's a screenshot (one of many I took of it) of the battery usage..

Your power controller is toast. There's a chip on the mobo (PM8941) that does voltage sensing, charge regulating etc... yours is totally broken. This is welded to the board so they will do a handset replacement. Should take around a week to do.

Space Monkey - Sup Auto is 8mp but it's a downsample of 20mp iirc so the results should still be great (if you know, Sony could get their software working).

Thanks for the explanation, makes sense. :)

I recently bought a Z3 to replace my nexus 5 which I successfully manged to break changing the battery.... Really pleased with it so far and battery life is good, but not as good as I'd hoped given some of the feedback on here.

Chrome seems to be the biggest consumer of the battery at 32% vs the next largest which is screen at 16% with a SOT of over 2.5hrs. It seems that that chrome is keeping the radio active?

Have tried uninstalling chrome updates and reinstalling but same issue.

Any thoughts other than factory reset? Phone is running 5.1.1.

Battery life sucks on 5.1.1, draining a lot in standby. I could get around 6 hours easily of SOT on KK charging every other day but on LP, it's struggling to even get 4 hours and I have to charge it every day.
