Soooo... Upgrade GTX480 SLI to GTX660 SLI?

Why buy two mid spec cards? Pointless in my opinion. Just get a GTX670 / 680. Can always add another one in the future.

yep just gone from 460gtx (running faster than stock 470) sli to a single 670gtx and the difference is amassing will be adding another as soon as i have the cash but for a single card it rocks!!!! (i bought the MSI GTX670 OC Power edition :D)

Well after much umming and arring i decided to get.....

An EVGA signature GTX680 :)

Personally, I think you'll still be hard pressed to notice the difference in game play, I think it's likely you'll see a drop in performance in some games.

Here's one way to check.

Look for reviews of the Nvidia 690GTX. They usually also have the scores ofr two other cards: the 680, and the Radeon 6990.

The 6990 is somewhere between 2x6950 and 2x6970, which makes it a little behind a 480GTX setup (roughly speaking, and not accounting for specific games that run bettwen or worse on NVidia).

So if you compare the HD 6990 vs the 680 GTX on those benchmarks you get a rough idea of how a 680 will compare to your 480 SLI setup.

In my view, if you are spending money, you want to see at least a 50% increase in performance, and I very much doubt you'll see anything like that.

I agree its certainly not any faster than the 480s were, but they use a lot less power and i can now switch to a smaller MATX build in the near future :)
