Only in the wildest fanboy dreams would this actually happen lol, PS3 is close to 20 million sold, no company would think that user base is not worth making games for. The PS3 sold less in nov-dec than last year according to this report, but over 40% more than last year, and 130% more from Black friday till end of December. The PS3 has been the highest revenue earner for EA, Ubisoft and Konami over the year why would any company stop making games for them. The 360 only started to sell above the PS3 in the last 3 months of the year after its second price drop of the year, i expect a price drop for the PS3 to close the gap if not overtake 360 sales again. In the end does it actually matter which console sells the most? Not to me, and most gamers just want to play games not win a sales debate :)

is it a fanboys dream that those same company's gave up on the multi-million selling PS2?

what if a softco decides to stop supporting a console due to falling sales at what should be the biggest time of it's years sales life, then it matters if a console sells.

360 would have gotten there first iirc

Don't know which have sold most on a global scale yet; the figures haven't been announced. I reckon it'll even out as the 360 has outsold the PS3 in the US as it typically does and the PS3 will outsell the 360 in Japan/probably Europe as it typically does. That is a complete guess obviously.
 
More PS3s have actually been sold outside of America than 360s. In total MS have sold 7 million more units than Sony. If Sony sold the same amount of PS3s this year as it did last year it will have technically outsold the 360 in the same time-frame.

Saying companies are going to back out etc. due to a lower than expected US christmas sales forecast (with a recession on as well) youve got to be mad.
