This morning when turning right out of a junction I managed to not see a cyclist riding left to right, which after I turned out resulted in him being along side my left rear quarter!

I was waiting a while to turn out the junction and paying attention to the other vehicles on the road whilst waiting for a gap to pull out, which is all the more worrying that I didn't see this guy! First I knew about him was when I heard an 'Oi!' and looked in my mirror to see him. He wasn't wearing a helmet but fortunately no contact was made!

I still can't believe how I didn't see him, I'm usually so careful :(

i cycle all the time and now how easily we are missed. though shouting doesnt help he should have slowed to avoid you if he saw you pull out.

Not really. Cyclist would have been cycling illegally along the wrong side of the road.

Plus cyclists aren't allowed on paths anyway unless it was a proper cycle path?

And he should have been wearing a helmet :p

How do you figure that one out?

OP turns right out of a junction, cyclist is riding left to right along the road that OP is turning on to...Cyclist seems perfectly in the right to me?

How I had it pictured.

Maybe they should make it law for cyclists and motor bike riders to wear high visibility clothing, I know a guy who rides an old army bike which has got a full camaflage paint job and he wears the cloths to match which doesn't do us car drivers any favours when it comes to seeing him at a junction.

If other road users can't see a halogen headlamp what's Hi-Vis clothing going to do ?

I still remember the sight of my Suzuki 750 embedded in a cars wing, still with the light on :D

Do it for one and you shall have to do it for all, including all those pedestrians that wish to cross the road!!

I have been cycling a lot this year, I also drive and ride a motorbike and must say people dont look out for you as much on two wheel vehicles. This has always been the case though so I make allowances. That said i 'SHOULDN'T' have to! I have as much right to be on the road on my bicycle and motorbike as any other vehicle and should be given the same respect as anyone else when on these modes of transport.

At least you didnt hit the guy on the bike OP so apart from giving him a brown trouser moment it looks like you got away with it :)

Must say I'm almost tempted these days that if a car wants to pull out in front of me whilst im on my push bike im just going to ride into them and hopefully scratch / dent their car. Then they can pay for my bicycle to be replaced too :D Just have to hope i dont land under said vehicle!

Not until you start paying road tax for the bicycle you dont! :P

/me gets the popcorn

Why is the cyclist pink? :p

Nekkid for streamlined win-ness...are you getting excited by that thought? ;)

Cyclist should have give way then. ****** tool! :p

I sense sarcasm but I'm not 100% so I shall answer two ways.

A) Why should he give way, he's on the main road and the OP should give way to any traffic as he's moving from a minor to a major road. STFU noob.

B) lol...yeah, gosh darn those greedy cyclists, what was he riding a BMW?! Road hog!
