Hello,

For Christmas I received a new Asus Xonar DGX 5.1 sound card to go with my Sennheiser PC360 headset.

I disabled the on board audio in the BIOS and saved the changes.

I then turned off the PC and installed the sound card in the PCIe slot, it fitted as it should.

After screwing it in firmly and plugging the cables back in, I turned the PC back on as usual.

The lights, fans and whole PC turned on properly. But there was no BIOS beep from the speakers. The monitor showed no signal from the PC. There was a consistent ticking noise, sounding like a clock. This had intermissions of around 5 seconds between ticks.

I reinstalled the sound card, tried different configurations. With the sound card in, no signal came through and I got the same issue. With the sound card out, everything works fine.

Might this be a faulty card? Did I do something wrong? Is it not compatible with my setup?

I need some support as soon as possible, all advice is appreciated.

Thanks, and merry Christmas!

You said you inserted into the PCI slot, I assume you mean PCIe? Because inserting a PCIe card into a PCI slot would likely cause issues.

OK, thought it best to ask, just in case. I'm sure people have done that before now. :o

Well if it doesn't post, there isn't a lot to work with. I'd try a BIOS update, if that doesn't help, probably safe to say the card is faulty.

Well without trying new motherboard BIOS, then the only other thing you can try would be to put it in another PC and see if it works. Without trying either, only thing you can do is return as faulty.
