I had a D2 but the damn internal battery swelled and it bricked just a month or two outside of warranty.

Yes both are big improvement over what i was originally going to go for.

Cheaper to get your IEMs online. OCUK seems to have a lot of Shure and UE owners but I think that's mainly because they're a lot more well-known than Westone/Earsonic/Hifiman. I'd go on Head-Fi and look at the huge threads where 100's of IEMs have been compared by users and see what fits a) your budget b) the sound signature you find most pleasing, since the differences between universals that aren't 'top tier' tends to be fairly noticeable.

Sigh....no need for most people, even with decent IEMs. Do a listening test before automatically going on what people say on a forum.

As for IEMs, if you can afford them get some custom molds, 2 or 3 drivers....it'd push your budget but they'd be better.

I own some Shure se530s as stated and also some Customs. The customs do sound better, but not by the difference in price. When you go into the high end route, as with everything - the percentage you pay for an increase in performance is not in relation to the increase in price.
