Space.

I'm making a space game, but it's still a long way from being playable but you are welcome to come test it.

not a trading game but smashes any space sim in combat. freespace 1 and 2. can get them cheap on gog.com

Freespace 2 was awesome, I've still got the original discs here. I've thrown so much old stuff away but always keep them in a draw even though I can't get it to work on W7!

Freelancer wasn't bad at all, although never got around to finish it, ended up losing the cd key ;(

What about Hegemonia ( or something like that)?

Freespace 2, then download FSOpen to upgrade it to reasonably modern graphics.

Then download the fan-made mods for it, especially the Blue Planet series. They've been done as sequels to the original FS2 plotline, and the first episode at least has voice acting and a pretty awesome story. The second and third parts aren't voice acted (yet, but they're working on it) but they've done wonders with the graphics and the gameplay to the point where you can fly large frigates instead of fighters. You can control entire fleets from your ship eventually. It really is brilliant, better than the original game.

I still have very fond memories of Elite 2: Frontier for the Amiga. I played so many hours on that game, its unreal.

Freelancer was far too heavy on combat and following a linear storyline for my tastes. The trading elements of it seemed tacked on and barely worth the effort.

star citizen vs Elite dangerous fanboi fight in the car park pls!

Maybe its something to do with the age of people who are following these 2 games but the lack of smack talk between them is so refreshing.

People for a more civilised time (my Amiga was better than your ST)

I've also been keeping my eye on Limit Theory. A small independent game, but intriguing non the less. I backed the kickstarter and have been enjoying the prototype.

I had an Amiga and an Atari 1040FM, don't forget the FM. No idea what it meant or even the model of the Amiga (pfft like I care) but I want acknowledgement of that FM

FM

Don't forget - it's an FM.

Also I'll take both games thanks, no need for competition! :D
