Spaceforce - Rogue Universe [Experience the most beautiful, open ended space sim]

"are there are other things in space . I'm slowly getting the hang of this game, however is there a fast forward button, otehr than warping to the main station?"
Sure there is. I hit a key that said time something not installed. In the demo it looked like you had to buy some equpiment to do it. Check the binding keys out to find out the correct button.

Will you please use the quote feature? Everytime you quote someone in any thread we have to scroll back through to see just who the hell you quoted. It's fine here where it's a few posts above, but in a thread with multiple pages it gets annoying.

Installed the full version, tried it for about 20 mins gave up in frustration and have stuck it on the 'bay.

Utter garbage.

The game trys to install each time you put the DVD in the drive.

It wouldn't recognise my joystick only a joypad and there is no inertial or smooth steering, just swing instantly with a key press or pushing D-pad up and down. I couldn't see that I was getting any forward motion, just stationary in space relative to other objects, though I was getting messages about leaving the sector.

Another oops from JoWood. Avoid.

Back to X3 for me.

Yeah JoWood is to be avoided like the plague.

This game has been fairly universally slated. If you want a reason to not get it - watch the trailer. Awful.

the trailer means nothing, after giving the game a good play, it is very good on free play. but there is no time device. Well there is but only after you find various stuff and it is part of the science quest. which is utterly absurd.

If it had a time thing, I would still be playing it.

Worst comment ever! Hang your head in shame!

I never played the original Elite, but the sequel Frontier Elite II, I virtually lived in that game for 6 months. Regrettably what I saw of Spaceforce Rogue Universe can't hold a candle to Frontier or for that matter any of the Wing Commander/Privateer games.

Note to self: Must dowload Vega Strike and the Privateer mod so I can relive those glory days again!

Downloaded the demo - Set everything to max - Attempted to play game - Shot lots of laser stuff - Caused no damage - Died a few times - Got bored - Gave up - Uninstalled

There is my brief run down of the demo for me.

I have never been so bored playing a game before.

Im enjoying it more & more as i spend more time with it actually.
You do need to hang in there as i have found out & once you have cash for things like missiles you should be able to handle enmies a lot easier.
Definitely printout out the keys & i played arround to begin with to get the hang of things. But, i do like spacesims.

I played this at a friends last night then installed X3 and we tried that, we both prefered X3 although I still find the keys and interface very annoying.

I'll give X3 more time tonight, just hope I can get use to the damn controls especially with keyboard/mouse. I might order up a 360 controller and see how it works - I hate joysticks! :)

Spaceforce just seemed too fiddly and a bit too hard initially, I also ran into a bug where I'd die the instant the game started, took us 3 attempts to actually get going.

lol funny but true :D

they are know for some truly shocking games

so are they the devs ? or just publishers?

*goes to watch Frontier Trailer on youtube again and dreams of landing on planets

Popped into our local (Swindon) GameHauptbahnhof and they already had a copy of this secondhand on the shelf. So not just people on here who found the game to be wanting.

Not sure as to JoWood's status as ISTR they actually developed and published titles such as Industry Giant and Traffic Giant but for Spaceforce they appear to just be the publisher.

Jowood was only recently made publisher not long ago, the developers had 90% of the game already done by then. So Jowood are publishers only.

Spaceforce 2 is a good game, has high modability and has hard ai for a change which i like as its harder than most.

Patch 1.1 is in development if you go to spaceforce 2 community forums, its at the top of the forums in a announcment topic.
