Spanish Football 2011-2012

Maybe they could try the old FIFA trick, start rushing towards him and then suddenly start retreating to trick him into chipping it into their hands.

Doubt it would work though. :p

Not really.

It's a style of goalkeeping, some keepers rush out to put pressure on the attack, often force them to make a decision, make themselves bigger et cetra, but some keepers don't.

so a player is one on one with goal and the keeper doesnt rush out?

could you show me some examples? where it isn't an tight angle.

It's dependant on the situation. Some goal keepers rush out and some don't. It's a style of play.

well i have always seen a keeper rush out in those situations giving the player less to aim at.

if a defender is near then it's 50/50, but if a guy is clear through i would imagine all keepers would rush out. standing in the middle of a pair of 11 a side goals would be useless, much like how most penalties are easy to score if you are confident. the size of the goals is huge.

If you're running at goal and a keeper stays on his line it would be ridiculously easy to score, I think all keepers rush out to be honest.

No.

It's situation dependant. It depends what the defenders are doing (or not doing) other players in the area of possession.

The goalkeeper has to make very quick decisions about coming off his line, against a player of Messi's ability there is often little the goalkeeper can do either way, damned if they do and damned if they don't.

*sighs*

No. It's situation dependant, there is far more to goalkeeping, they have to evaluate the situation and judge if coming off their line gives them a better chance of preventing the goal.

it's better to try than to just give him a goal.

keepers narrow the angle to make it harder, not just stand in the middle of a goal.

and we have clearly said in one on one situations, so take defenders out of the argument, they arent there.

It depends on the situation. Goalkeepers don't just 'stand in the middle of the goal' they position themselves to stop the shot.

Again, re; one on one's it depends on the situation, there aren't many situations where the player is one on one with a keeper per game, it depends on the run, the defenders, other attackers. You can't just generalise.

Goalkeepers have different styles of play, much like lots of different players do in outfield positions.

I love the TV direction in La Liga, they love dramatic close ups and quick cuts as set plays are about to be taken. Bright start by Malaga so far but that's what happened last time and it ended 0-4 to Madrid.

Indeed.

That was a lovely goal for Real Madrid. Lovely.
