Spanish Grand Prix 2013, Barcelona - Race 5/19

People need to remember this is what Pirelli were told to do. Mostly by the teams and the governing body. It's not Pirelli's fault they fulfilled the brief.

Very true and of course we want some tyre strategy but when it's gone to the point of stopping people racing it's gone too far, hopefully this race is untypical.

Delamination of tyres is just a joke, Matrin and Crofty saying it might be from the crash in the pits.... He was coming in for new tyres when that happened. So that should be a fairly fresh set?

This isn't motor racing, this is racing by spreadsheet and it is a joke.

This is no different to pre-season when the tyres first showed in testing when webber said this was no longer racing but a pre determined race pace.

Why the outcry now, it's been like this for YEARS! :D

So the hard tyre doesn't work when it's hot.
Won't work when it's cold.
When it does work, it wears out faster than using a mini baby bel, and sheds the carcass faster than it takes to skin a mini baby bel...

Not only are the tyres useless for racing, they're damn dangerous now.

Time to go back to the drawing board a redesign the actual structure of the tyre. Maybe change from the steel wire in the tyre back to the kevlar they used last year.

I find it quite funny that in endurance racing they have the green challenge for the team that uses the least fuel/tyres.

In F1, we're deliberately producing tyres that dissolve...

Yup,I have commented on this before. They are supposedto be going more green, yet we have tyres that hardly last 10 laps if that, destroy themselvesand cause the cars to go through 5 sets in one race! Totally stupid.

Verne was on a new set of hard tyres that delaminated after 2 and a bit laps.

It was the rear right, which doesn't undergo a lot of stress here either.

Better tyres that last more than 3 laps and refuelling would make it more fun, at least they won't start with huge amounts of fuel and would be able to race.

It makes me wonder if Pirelli can even manufacture a decent tyre tbh, or whether they are just using the whole 'the FIA told us to do this' as an excuse.
