I could imagine the quali/race mode change making Mercs faster not slower, mainly in the race over other teams. If their engines are as reliable as most claim them to be, I know they were previously but in the winter they changed things up and had some issues.

I think it'll probably close up Quali but increase the gap in the season. Mercedes can pick a mid-range option that balances performance and reliability, the others will need to risk reliability to be within biting distance of the Mercs.
 
What were Ocon and Magnussen playing at?

Ocon not entirely paying attention to in front of him, looking into the left rear view mirror.
Magnussen drifts over to the centre of the track and slows right down, then goes back onto the racing line

Very strange incident. Down to inattention by Ocon for me. Not sure why you say KMag went back to the racing line, he was clearly in the middle when Ocon panic-spun behind him.
 
Both HAAS drivers need sacking. Every weekend it's something new with them. Proper chips on their shoulders.

Don't they get penalised too if they don't use it? Or something daft like that. After the first season I gave up. I liked the concept but the cars were too slow and it's full of 2nd rate drivers like Chandhook crashing all the time. Made me laugh when Jev went there and was immediately quicker than most of the field.
 
Ocon radio - Brake pedal very long at the moment, very long.

Pit - Copy. I'm afraid you're going to have to live with that, we don't have time to do anything. Hopefully it's come to you a little bit in the session.
 
Ocon radio - Slightly too much understeer for turn 1.

Pit - Ok. What about the rest of the lap?

Ocon - The rest of the lap was pretty decent to end with.
