Difference between the British and other Europeans:
Euro's protest and try to get at their lying scumbag politicians.
The British protest and try to nick a new telly.
;)

Young Spaniards are more interested in listening to crappy Latino rap and riding about on their mopeds without helmets to be bothered by a thing like work.

Also, shutting businesses down for hours in the daytime so you can go and have a sleep (siestas) is hardly going to good for profit margins as well.

50% unemployment what do you expect?

Opinions like these are why any concept of discussion here tends to be fruitless with such inbred prejudices. They also rather sadly seem so prevailent here..

I work with a guy from Madrid, even he says these protesters are a bunch of lazy *****. Surprisingly though he also said that working in Madrid was pretty tough compared to London as their working days are much longer - usually working from 8am-7pm.

Some of them are most probably, not all of them will be by any stretch.

The economy and employment market was a big issue before the crash, more so particularly in the southern regions. I can't imagine it being very good there now.

+1

a lot of the Med close for the early afternoon but they start work earlier and end later into the day to compensate

It's cultural but also practical in many respects, labouring in that mid day heat can be a serious toil. Depending on where you are, and what where or what you are working in, it can be utterly sapping.
