Spanish resorts overrun with tourists

A lot of the disdain is towards cruise ships as well, in Barcelona and other places. Some recent articles from my favourite local news website, in English.

I totally understand regards to housing and rent prices. I know a lot of people who feel strongly about it, albeit not enough to go to demos. Happens in many cities tbh. Not sure what the solution is. Firing water pistols and chanting at tourists isn't the solution though.

It messes up their emissions planning no doubt. When you have large transitory populations for 60% of the year and then hardly any. It reduces some places to ghost towns in the winter, personally I would hate it too.

People are just fed up with their countries being overrun whether it’s tourists or immigrants

That's just you and your ilk, don't project that upon everyone else. Even in the article the people organising the protests say

“What we’ve been seeing over the last eight or 10 years has been a huge acceleration of the process of ‘touristification’,” said Asier Basurto, a member of the platform. “All our city’s services have been put at the orders of the tourism industry.”

He insists the numbers of arrivals themselves are not the problem, it is the way the city caters to visitors rather than residents.

Me and my ilk represent a large and fast growing percentage of the population.

That's one way to describe a minority.

And those concerns are about environmental sustainability and (lack of) benefit to the locals. Nothing about "being overrun by the numbers of tourists".

Are you a Royalist btw?

Not sure how some of these places would actually make any money without loads of tourists. They don't manufacture anything or sell anything else.

Easily recognised as they are the ones throwing the insults.

"A person who is considered foolish or stupid."

I think if people can't see where the actual problems lie, rather than what the populists say, then the above is true, it's not an insult, just an observation.

Doesn't this logic rule out most places/countries? Or are you saying specifically there is a French Price and Tourist Price on literally everything?
Every piece of holiday accommodation in France should be paying Tax de Séjour for each night a guest stays there. Holiday booking platforms often pay directly to French tax agencies as they take the guest’s money.

It doesn’t matter what country the tourist lives in.

Exceptions are for government employees and contractors working in the area.

Don't tell Robj20, he won't be able to sleep tonight.

Personally, I have no issues with it and I don't think most people mind either.
