The problem with tourism isn't tourists, it's AirBnB.
By making it vastly more profitable for anyone owning property in tourist destinations to just short-term let, they have destroyed the long-term rental and sale market that provides homes for the people that actually live there.
When tourists stayed in hotels and B&Bs, and the people that worked in the hotels and B&Bs lived in the apartments and houses......the system worked. But when all the apartments, houses, hotels and B&Bs are all full of tourists, and the workers have nowhere to live.....quelle surprise eventually people have enough.
