Now the season is over :p

At the local ASDA Red Bull are doing an event.

A competition to do the quickest tyre change, would have loved a go but didnt have the time :(

Red Bull obviously have lots of show cars - there's one outside Marks and Spencers in MK city centre too.

Looking forward to them hooning it up and down Silbury boulevard at the weekend :D

*edit*
That looks like a 2008 car, the one outside M&S is a 2009/2010.

They do seem to do have a few!

This one was David Coulthard's actual car apparently minus the rear section :)

Gonna miss the event tomorrow unfortunately :(

Just going to post this is all because of the event tomorrow.

Was going to go, helping a mate move house instead.

Hi. I'm driving from Harlow to MK tomorrow for this. I don't know MK really, so is it Silbury Boulevard? I thought it was going to be Midsummer Boulevard. Which part of Silbury or Midsummer Boluevard would be best for me to get to as they seem to be long roads, and what's the parking like around there, is it expensive NCP parking or is there any likelihood of free street parking anywhere nearby? (probably not). And is it around 2pm?

Get the train if you can as its just up the road from the train station, parking will be horrendous i'd imagine, though MK does have plenty of parking, just be prepared for a 20minute walk. :)

Parking Details

You could be right with Midsummer - I took a punt on Silbury :)

As regards parking, there wil definately not be any free parking near by as there isn't any, unless you park in one of the nearby estates and walk a mile or so.

Ah, well I'm sure it'll be well signposted. Thanks for the info LizardKing. I'll still have to drive there and I don't really mind a 20 minute walk (well, I say that now, but come tomorrow.. :p )

So the main action starts at 1pm, not 2pm. Leaving Harlow at about 11.15am, I should be able to get to MK in about an hour to an hour and a quarter maybe?, then find somewhere to park, then walk. Blimey, it's going to be pushing it to get there before 1pm I think.

There should be. I work about 300 yards down the road from the coachway and the car park is normally pretty deserted. It's about 10 minutes from the city centre.

Nice one. I presume you mean 10 mins by car but about 20 by foot? I think it's about a 4 mile walk to the venue area. My brother and nephew are hopefully going to meet me there, they're coming from rushden.
Brother reckons car parking at coachway, or anywhere in MK) is about £1.20 ph? Can anyone confirm? That would be decent enough if I paid for 4 hours parking.

Yep, 10 mins by car. 1.20 an hour sounds about right. There are cheaper spaces at about 30p/hr, but you'll be incredibly lucky to get one of those.

Had fun today now i've defrosted. Always good to see and hear F1 cars running. I didnt get to see much of the show other than the car runs. Despite getting there at 10:30 I couldnt get anywhere near the garage areas or the ends of the run. I also couldnt hear any of the interviews from where I was stood, though it was the cars I came to hear not the drivers!

The two static cars were good to nose around. There was an RB6 in the shopping centre and an RB5 in the hub (correct me if im wrong Sparky). Its fascinating how much the rear of the car has evloved over the last three years and how the exhaust has gone from blowing over the beam wing to the diffuser. Front and rear wings aside the current generation of F1 cars are the most visually appealing since the early 90s in my opinion.

Nice pics saddler. :) I think it's fair to say we wouldn't have bumped into each other if we were both wearing clown makeup, there were just thousands of people there.

There wasn't one car parking space at coachways, but I ended up finding a free car park at V10 Brickhill Street called Peace Pagoda Car Park. That was really lucky, and then I hailed a taxi which was £5, and then another taxi for the way back to my car, so it worked out well and no 4 miles of walking each way! :D I got there at 1.20pm and fortunately the cars hadn't started. I've got 60fps footage with high quality stereo audio from my Zoom Q3 HD I'm putting together of the nascar, the trick biker, and the F1 cars. The sounds were amazing and the smell of burning rubber filled the air for ages. When the batteries died, I switched to my phone for 1080p footage of some of the interviews with Jake, Coulthard, and I managed to get Vettel, Horner, Webber on camera too, including them sitting atop the courtesy cars waving at us.

Lol.

RBR spend years doing their absolute most to keep the rear of their cars out of view of prying eyes... and then when the season is over and the technology they have developed has been banned... they stick them in a shopping centre for every Joe Bloggs with a camera phone to have a look at.

:D

Looks like a good day was had by all.
