Speaker in my Shower

It's simply a speaker so use whatever source you like and any 5-30w amp.

Probably best to keep them out of the shower though ;-)

what about a sonos bridge connected to an amp so I could use the my Galaxy S II as source?

Can a sonos bridge be used on its own with just and amp and source?

I have a battery powered soundsystem in my bathroom, awesome for rinsing out while rinsing my hair. :p

I've avoided using a mains powered amp for safety reasons.

FWIW, I'm using a TK2050 based class D amp, powered by Li-ion cells, into some old ass Aiwa speakers gaffer taped together.

Looks like ass, but it sounds surprisingly good. :)

If you want something to power those monitor audio drivers, try and find the sensitivity rating first, if they are something like 85db/w then you may find a 20w mini amp lacking... :)

Was thinking of a low powered mini amp as running speaker cables to these 2 amps is a no no....

Well that answers that. I was going to suggest just running it from your zone two output. By the way, i didn't see the link to your home cinema before i posted my reply. Nice setup. At least now i know that you have half a clue and not like these people who buy flat screen TV's for above their fireplace without thinking about power cables etc. :D

If i may, how much is the MA speaker and how much time would you normally spend in the bathroom? Would the easy option of a specific s2 dock/speaker combo not be a better solution? Granted, if it were your kitchen/sun/additional entertaining room then a single channel/ 2 ch setup would be sweet but we're in a recession man, what ever happened to the good old waterproof radio you hung beside your Lynx shower gel :D

I have a couple of Kef ceiling speakers in my bathroom. I have them connected to a sonos connect amp. The speaker cable runs to the cupboard next door and I have terminated on a banana terminal faceplate.

In my lounge I have a zp90, which sky is one of the inputs in. Nothing beats taking a dump whilst continuing to listen to Sky SPorts

Sonos for sure. Everyroom in my house is connected to sonos.

I must warn you though it wont stop with your 1st system. You'll find you want it everywhere.

Sonos is truly awesome, I have 4 zones now :D

So with you both having experience of sonos...

All i need is the sonos bridge and connect this to my amp?

Then I can use my Galaxy S2 as source?

AFAIK Sonos only supports playing from iOS mobile wise, and cannot stream from Android. Your sources if you used Sonos would be an online provider (e.g. Spotify), internet radio, any network share/nas drive.

Your amp does not need to form part of it, you can get a Sonos Connect:AMP and that will drive the speakers. The Sonos Bridge you use to effectively build/extend the Sonos wireless mesh (e.g. the Connect:AMP does not need to be hard wired, but you will need a bridge or another Sonos device to be hardwired). You control Sonos from any IOS / Android / Pc etc

Why do you need to stream from your SGSII? Can't you use Spotify or Nas drive?

The connect amp is £399 more than what I wanted to pay

I have my 12TB media server but just thought the S2 would be the easiest option.

Get up play a song/album on my phone and listen to it in the shower.

So what I would do is install the sonos software on the server and control it from the phone?

Sonos does not require a server software to operate, the app will pick up your Sonos network and you can control it, as long as you have at least one zone player (i.e. a Play 3, Play 5, Connect: AMP or the ZP90 whatever they call it these days), it's all ran from the zoneplayers.

You point it to your nas/media server etc, it will index it and give you a nice interface on Android, iOS, PC etc to browse and play your music. I have a readynas + Spotify Premium sub which I use which is awesome. The radio function is also very good, I sometimes play Five Live whilst showering.

It can be initially expensive, but personally I think it's the best solution for multi room music. You can get the bug easily with it as mentioned.

I guess your cheaper options would involve getting a micro hifi or something, or a cheap amp to power the speakers, and just plug your phone in via line in.

I suggest you go down to a Richersounds\PC World etc and have a play, or look at some vids on Youtube. I think it's a more convinient option as you dont need to faff around with any wires, my bathroom zoneplayer just sits in the corner in the cupboard, i've never had to touch it, and we have 4 tablets, 3 laptops, 1 PC and 2 smartphones which can control our Sonos players always at hand.

Could you use a Connect:Amp place it wherever, run one speaker to the ceiling of the bathroom and then one to the kitchen for example. Then control the device anywhere in the house via android/ios?
If the speakers were connected to a volume on/off switch in the wall, you should be able to have sound in multi-room without having to invest in 2 Sonos devices?
Both rooms only really need 'background' music.

I would personally go for a Play:3 or 5 in the kitchen. I have a Play:3 in my kitchen, it's brilliant.

All this Sonos talk makes me want to go out and buy another Play:5 today :P

so if I were to get a sonos connect amp I would point the sonos to the server share and control playback through my galaxy S2?

Thinking now of a squeezebox Radio

http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/speakers-audio/wireless-music-systems/devices/squeezebox-radio-black and controlling it using the controller app on my S2

http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/speak...sic-systems/devices/squeezebox-controller-app

but I have a problem. I have not run any 1/4 inch audio Jack cable in the wall to connect to the line out of the squeezebox and to connect it to the amp :(

Is there a way of using the line out of the Squeezebox and connecting to my amp and speakers without a wire? :o
