Speaker upgrade

It's the speaker wires that would be a problem, mainly from an aesthetical point of view but also the decor in the plaster would be at risk of damage. Ducting etc wouldn't suit the age of the house, nor would having speakers in the ceiling. It's just not the right kind of living room for it, which I have to accept.

Fortunately, for the 5.1 I could run all the cables under the floorboards in the copious space underneath, I guess that was one advantage to an older house.

Ceiling speakers would be the neatest, if you are aware what needs doing.

Mine aren't too bad, and since I'm a bloke I don't care about "unsightly" wires, they are in the corner of the wall and wall/ceiling and I've painted them. Most obvious ones are the four wires going up the chimney stack corner to the ceiling, but I could get a cornice cover...if I can be arsed lol

Plus with in effect 11.4.4 system speakers are the last thing you see haha those 3050 look tiny to mine

That’s the same for me

I did our living room from scratch on the basis of 5.1 so any changes would require bit of a redecorate and work

When I redecorated I channeled out runs in the walls for the speaker cables and tubing in the tv wall for the hdmi cabling

Seemed a good idea at the time and has kept things clean but hard to work with now for any changes

Oh and my missus has now seen the floor standing speaker….not sure how she missed them to start. Her response, what the f&@k are those haha

This could be an issue for me but as my MC1s are on stands I dont think the difference in size will be much.
