Speaker Wire

No, it's a T2020 i think, also got a charlize 2 here but not fired it up yet - i've had it sitting here a year!

It was on DIy audio someone mentioned using thin wire to counteract some kind of isue with the sound of a speaker where I got the idea. I actually have an old broken CD player (phillips CD582, oh yeah!) with a hefty transformer in it. Maybe in the next few days I'll test it out.
TA2020 amps sound lovely, I have a charlize 2 also which is also TA2020 based, but the PCB needs a little TLC before it will work... Right now I'm using 2 x modded Lepai TA2020's.

You may find that a larger transformer will have thicker cable, but the only real way to find out is to inspect the transformer really. Good luck. :)

I just use some thick orange 2-core power cable from B&Q, does the job nicely. Costs next to nothing.

Like this sort of stuff?

I tried cutting the end off a cat5 cable. What i am left with is 8 strands of covered, very thin wire. So now i need to strip these individual cables then do this with loads of them, twice?

Think ill just go to richer sounds and get spend £15 on 10 metres of cable instead

Yes. Just use a lighter and heat them for about a sec or 2 and then use your nail to nip the coloured sheath off. Or you can use a proper cable stripper.

You can't get around the fact that to use a bare cable you'll need to 'prepare' it in some way. Even the stuff you buy from the shop will need to be stripped. But you only need to do it once and it'll take all of about 5-10 mins .

I mentioned above that just buying some speaker cable would be even easier still.

I have checked and the Gale XL315 (Similar to symphony 400) is definately thicker than the other Gale XL 189 (Symphony 200) I have.

Im just going to get 10 metres of Symphony 400 from Richer sounds for £25. I also have 2 2.5 metre lenths of Cable talk 3.1 but this is not long enough. That is about the same thickness of the Symphony 400.

Suppose i could twist the ends of the Gale cables onto the ends of the Cable talk. Would this make much of a difference as it would be unshielded on the parts where i join 2 different cable types.

Also, would it make a difference if the cable talk (better cable) was in the amp end or speaker end?
