Hi

Wondering about upgrading the car (ST24) shortly, but can't settle on what to replace it with. I would be grateful for any comments/suggestions.

The criteria are:

- Budget: approx 15k
- Quick: 0-60 around 6.5 seconds or less.
- Depreciation: unlikely to lose more than 2/3k in value over the next two years
- Some practicality: I don't drive many miles a year (approx 3,000), but it would be the only car and will need to be able to fit set of golf clubs, travel bag, etc. Doesn't need to fit the kitchen sink.

After looking into this for some time I am keen on the Z4, and am probably edging more towards the convertible/saloon style, but could be convinced otherwise.

Thanks in advance.

Depreciation may be the problem there, and due to your mileage etc, personally i'd be looking at the more off the wall suggestions :

Escort Cosworth, older 911, BMW M3/5, early NSX, Lotus or TVR of some sort etc

Is reliability going to be an issue ?

Reliability's not a massive issue, although it would obviously be nice if it worked more often than not.

Hi there

Be different, it will still fit your criteria but be very different and very fast!

2005/2006 Ford Mustang! :D

300BHP
320Lb/Ft
0-60mph in 5.1s
0-100mph in 13s
Top Speed 150mph
Weight 1600kg

That gets you a 4.6l V8, great performance, incredible sound. Practical in the sense it will carry your golf clubs and has back seats. Not so practical however in size and petrol consumption. Around town expext 16-19mpg and upto 30mpg on the motorway, should average in the region of 22mpg. On the upper hand car tax and insurance is very cheap for a car of this performance and reliability is fantastic and afterall its quite a new car with very low mileage. These have now got too a point where they are so cheap that your not going to loose much if anything in a years ownership.

When you start to get bored you have a platform that can be modded as much as you want to transform the the car and again for not huge amount of money. For 6k you could have 500BHP, great handling and fantastic brakes.

Hadn't really considered one, but will take a look. Are the all left hand drive, and what's the depreciation like - hopefully not like other Fords!

Another one for DC5 integras. That money will get you one of the last ones made with less than 10k on it. Or get a slightly older pre-facelift if you prefer the look of them.

I was looking at them this time last year and if anything they seem to be a little more expensive!

If you find one at 15-16k you won't loose much its just finding a bargain or twisting someone's arm to let one go for that kinda money.

Yes all LHD, but it took me a day to get used to that, hardest bit was changing gear with other hand as mine was manual, if you get an AUTO then no issues and the AUTO's are good, no slower than the manual hardly but the manual is still a more involving and more fun drive.

What about something like a Monaro? Perhaps a 3.2 TT?

I'd suggest a 330Ci but I'll get shouted at for being a fanboy moron by 50% of posters and the other 50% will tell me that an M3 only costs 10p more to run so the 330Ci is pointless, and I really can't be arsed to argue with either parties :p

FOX suggested a Vuaxhall??

A Monaro is what I would be looking at. Espically if the VXR is in that price range. Possibly the only Vuaxhall Clarkson likes.
