TVR Cerbera

Incredible performance & sound, with one of the most beautiful interiors I've ever seen.

Has rear seats for small people, and could possibly even appreciate in value.

You have the TVR reliability issue but for 3,000 miles you should be ok, and you can get one registered before 2001 for cheap tax.

Or following the Mustang suggestion, a Corvette C5. Looks amazing, and bloody quick too. The mustang beats it on the muscle looks though.

If you like fords....

Focus ST perhaps? Seem like they're holding value well too so far.

Are they? Looking on Autotrader you can pick up an ST-3 for 13-14k already, weren't they list price of 19k?

Saying that I have been looking at them recently and quite fancy one next :) Other cars for your budget have all been said really, S2000, 350Z, Impreza, DC5.

I do quite like the idea of something out of the ordinary like a Corvette, TVR, etc.

In terms of something like an Evo/Impreza, I think the per mile insurance would be a little too much as a result of the performance and image.

Already? They've been out nearly 3 years!

poor wording on my part, should have said a year or so old model. I know all new cars lose a big chunk from the off but I can't see these holding as well as the old RS. Ooh there's another one, Focus RS :)

Depends how fast you want.

Sneaky Peaky on here is selling his Impreza (Ive seen it for sale on scoobynet) for around the 15k mark. I doubt you will get much quicker and practical for the money. 400+bhp with some superb mods. Its a total bargain at that price.

Thanks for the continued suggestions.

I'm not really after something like an Impreza. I prefer either the understated look or something more unique, like potentially a corvette/tvr, etc.

Also, I would prefer the car to be stock to avoid sky high insurance quotes. Just worked out the per millage cost today given my limited travel and it was quite depressing.
