Spec build for a friend please

My mate was going to get a steam machine so he could game in his living room , i talked him out of it though , so he would like a tower building at roughly the same size as a steam machine , his budget is £400, will only be used for gaming , doesn't need an os or any peripherals that's just for the tower

If that is too much over budget (albeit MUCH MUCH better than any steam machine for £400...) Then just drop the i5 down to an i3 and happy days!

I would highly recommend he get the i5 if he can stretch if he wants 'futureproofing' but hey some people just like to waste money Cough*Apple*cough

No no preference on cases , it was the £450 Alienware he had seen but he will also need a controller

You really want to up the budget or go second hand to get a higher spec. He will be bummed out if he dished out 450 only to not be able to play on medium/high settings at a nice frame rate the year later on a new AAA title.

Visit the members market, 290 can be had for pretty cheap.
