Hi,

Please could you folks in the know give the following spec a once over, I'm hoping to get the bits below to give a reasonable overclock without pushing the cpu, I'm on a stock q6600 and have the upgrade bug. I think it'll be ok, my main concerns the memory but seeing as ocuk use the same sticks in their pre oc'd bundles I think it should be ok ?

Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler

4GB (2x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, XMP, 1.65V

Asus P8P67 Pro, Intel P67 Express, S 1155, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), DDR3 2200(OC), SATA 6Gb/s, SATA RAID

Intel Core i7 2600K Unlocked, Socket 1155, Sandy Bridge, Quad Core, 3.4 GHz, 8MB Cache, 95W, Retail

Cheers in advance

that all looks fine to me

i went for the geil memory instead as it was cheaper and got the same speed and timings on less v

hasn't arrived yet though so can't say what its like

I am torn between the two and I'd like to save the cash but for the amount of time I'm expecting to keep this as my main system I'm tempted to go the bit extra for future proofing, I bought arma2 and arrowhead in the steam sales and I gather they like the extra threads ?

Oh totally understand that point of view, its why i went full blown I7 instead of I5.

I wouldn't be able to comment on the game side of it, as im not a huge gamer, and generally are old games when i do.

The 2500k will be more then powerful enough for any game you play, the 2600k will come into its own for like encoding and stuff like that.

So i guess it would be all down to would the extra cost be worth it, when i went I7 over I5 i did so knowing it would last me a long time like yourself.

So yeh its really only you that can answer that one, but either will be a stonking setup for sure.
