As per title :)

It's for a friend and he's using a 1680x1050 monitor and wants a decent machine at a reasonable price. This is what I came up with but if there's anything that I could/should change then please enlighten!

It's not likely to be overclocked either. Already have an OS and optical drive.

What's it most likely to be used for? In games the Q6700 will give slightly better performance and you'll be able to build the system for a few quid less, other than that it looks good.

Pretty much 100% for gaming, yea. How much difference are we talking about between the Q6700 and the Phenom 2?

What does the Phenom 2 do better in than the Q6700?

Not much, maybe 5% or so at stock settings but clock for clock it is faster. In pretty much everything else they will perform basically the same.

I just thought you could save £50 while getting slightly better performance. Could be put towards a faster graphics card, bigger HD etc.

I like that thinking :D I wouldn't get much benefit for an extra £50 on a graphics card, would I?

just a quick question if hes not going to be overclocking it is it really worth £30 on a cpu cooler? with the air flow in the antec 300 wont a very low budget or even stock cooler do the job? like i said the cpu wont be pushed by overclocking etc, and £30 is a lot of beer!

I was going for minimum noise, you could run the CPU fan at a very low speed on the cooler I picked and still get low temps. Might need to ramp it up a little with the Freezer 7 but it would do the job :)

I'm using a freezer on one of my BOINC machines and I've got that set to 60% fan speed and I can't hear it yet it seems to push a decent amount of air through. What sort of temps would I be looking at under full load for the Q6700?
