I have had 2 CX series PSU's die within 6 months of each other and have heard other people have a few problems with them. After i RMA the first one, i found that they were not made by Seasonic but rather CWT.

I think stretching the cash for the gold modular seasonic is worth it for sure!

so not the 612s then.

The Macho will fit as will the Matterhorn pure (£30-£35)

The D14 (£60) will also fit and is the best cooler, beside CLC's, that will fit..

Yeah not bad :) The lads have pointed out the 7870XT which isn't much more.

Have you considered trying the evaluation of windows 8 for free? That will be a good 3 months to try before you buy and leaves you more cash for components. If you like it then you can buy it or choose windows 7.....maybe get an SSD for the fresh install at the same time ;)

Mini-itx just to be a lil different. You can easily swap the case and mobo for ATX variants if you'd prefer that.

Thanks for the very helpful responses!

In the end I went with the Samsung green memory everybody is raving about.

I have also purchased the 7870 XT (while it was on offer) like Doomedspeed suggested.

That case looks great honosuseri. I'll be going with the Corsair 200R mind; I have my heart set on the minimal black look and the front USB 3.0 ports. I originally wanted the Antec three hundred two. It isn't in stock though :(. From the sound of it they are comparable cases in terms of soundproofing and looks.

I'll buy the 'XFX Pro 550W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply', I presume this will be ok with the 3570k and 7870 xt (the right power connectors and with OC)?

Also, will the Gigabyte Z77-D3H have the right connectors for the front USB 3.0 ports? (it says 2x via USB brackets on headers and 3 x USB 2.0/1.1 headers in the spec)

Yes, I will be buying a heatsink at some point. I think in a year or two I'll OC the CPU/Ram/GFX (there is a lot of OC potential from what I read) when I might need the extra performance. I might also get an SSD in the future.

Thanks Greeny1994 for pointing that out! I'll keep your suggestions in mind :)

Sorry if the post is a bit incoherent; I'm not sure what I'm on about!

The Z77-D3H has a single internal USB3.0 port on the board, this will run a pair of them on the front of the case.
