Spec me a 40” TV

I've been looking at the Toshiba 40XF355D. It's a bit more expensive but its coming down in price slowely.

You need to work out what your main purpose of the TV is? Is it watching SD/HD through Sky, gaming, and watching Bluray/HDDVD? If you’re watching a lot of TV Freeview/Sky etc don’t IMO get a LCD.

Instead of a 40, get a better quality 37"
Buy a plasma, I guarantee you won't say "Maybe I should have gone LCD"
A great buy is the Panasonic TH37PX70, which will cost you somewhere around the £800 mark. For the cost, in my opinion, you can't do better.
Another plus is Panasonic's after sales service is second to none.

Like richolmes72 said, go into a store and browse their TVs. Tell them you have heard good things about the TH37PX70. Take a look for yourself, and your likely to walk away with one :p

Unless of course you have a few grand to spare, in which case buy a Philips Aurea, and make the WHOLE forum jealous.

TH37PX70 is a nice TV, should be able to get for a lot less than the £800, (My parents did), although they seem quite hard to get hold of and are likely to be on of the last 37" plasmas now. Picture quality is great and shows far less noise than my TV and also did a good job with an Xbox.

Certainly a lot more solid base than the 40M86 i have now too.
