cmndr andi's spec looks good to me. I would go with that if you have your heart set on intel. Anyway good luck with it mate, you wont have any problems running any games for the next few years. :)

I wouldnt base that machine on VMWare, why dont you buy a decent gaming machine and a cheap HP tower server Quad Core Xeon/AMD (they all have VT and do the job much better) for VMWare, you also might want to have a go with Citrix Xenserver (which is free also)!

Thats what I did last year and stupidly sold both (I know i know), you can pick up some decent servers at little cost for what you want right here:

EDIT: You'll need more RAM but for that server, its cheap as chips!

my plan has changed a little.

i already got antec sonata and 900, sonata is being unused, so i will transfer all hardware from 900 to sonata and use it as download box and file server. will use 900 case for new system. i will use the DVD-RW from 900 instead.

how about this spec?

You do realise that, that mobo you have selected here, is a Micro-ITX one yes?

Here is my i5 spec:

Its a bit over budget, but it is worth it. If you need to get it down to £750 then switch to an AMD X3 720BE or X4 955 AM3 system (i would be happy to spec you one up). I suggest sticking with the GPU I chose, have a look at this review (Green Bar). It seems to give the GTX285 a kicking.

Oh, the monitor I chose is well worth the premium. Being an eIPS panel and all.

+1 this one. Enormous value there.
If you must you could save a few quid on the monitor. 4gb Ram and a i5 750 is a far better deal.

how about this one? my budget is up to £750

i would like to have VT(virturalization Technology) supported as i use vmware a lot

I like ths one.

What's the point in showing systems that are over the £750 limit?

I would recommend you get the basics right. Mobo, PSU and case. Everything else can be easily upgraded.
