Bear in mind this is now fast becoming the new reference blu-ray player, and is on an par with players 4x that price in terms of AV performance. It also offers something extra in that it supports both SACD and DVD-Audio multichannel audio formats, which I appreciate isn't a selling point for too many people but it is for me... oh, and with a very straighforward mod it becomes multi-region for both DVD and Blu-Ray...
They're US release only at the moment and can only be imported, with a lightweight version due for release in Europe soon; the equivalent to the current US one is supposedly coming out here late Q4 2009/early Q1 2010, although rumour has it they may not be built using Anchor Bay's VRS video processing chips.
They are currently being imported by one particular distributor who's getting loads of business; they are (he is) offering standard players, premodded player and DIY mod kits (basically a replacement optical interconnect ribbon).
