Spec me a Broadband provider - Good speed, No download limits

Try searching the first part of your postcode on the virgin media forum I believe this is a good way to find out...

Sadly its not as common with other ISP's as with ADSL and FTTC the aggrigation point of the next work is deeper so its much less common, since they need to congest the exchange where as VM customers only need to congest the cab at the end of the street.

Although theory says both FTTC and I expect adsl are subject to the same issues it doesn't appear to ever be an issue.

The threads on the VM forums are quite old though and Virgin Technicians said "this will get fixed soon" and then the thread basically dies off with no final result.

Surely the odd person will have issues so unless there is some way I can find if that area is slow then im never going to know for sure am I?

I know that the previous owner of the flat was with Virgin so hence why I would like to just carry it on with them.

Mine started playing up in October last year. Even though I've gone with BT, my Virgin connection is still live till the end of the month and I still monitor it but don't use ut, and it's still not fixed. They are a company of false promises in regards to fix dates from my experience.

Based on the info there, I would ask some people in the area who are with Virgin and see what they feel. Remember, if they just use the net to get emails and looks at BBC news, they probably are none the wiser. You need people who are gamers and watch on demand video etc.

Based on those forum results though, I would personally avoid Virgin Media.

Hmm ive been interested in Sky but it saying for the 20mb unlimted package I will only get an Estimated Access Line Speed: 2.0Mbps - 12.2Mbps
