Spec me a build

guys im getting the intel build thanks for helping me on this one.

EDIT.just asking there is a 4.20ghz and a 4.40ghz which one should i go for http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-035-OB&groupid=43&catid=339&subcat=

and http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-039-OB&groupid=43&catid=339&subcat=

As I said above - the 4.2 gets you down £35 closer to what you wanted to spend, or the 4.4 gets you a better mobo, better cooler and of course the extra 200MHz squeezed out of the CPU. Worth it imho if you can stretch to it. If you upgrade to a quad core CPU later I'd be worried about overclocking it on that UD2 mobo in the cheaper bundle as it has no MOSFET heatsinks (that little piece of advice by the way came right from one of the OCUK guys in another thread :)).

Up to you.

ye ill be getting the 4.40 but one question would i need a bigger case to fit everything mainly the cooler.thanks.and yes i will be upgrading in the future.;)

When are you thinking of buying the parts? As they go up and down all the time so they is no point fixing down on that price yet.

I have that Xigmatec case housing my i5, 5850, H50 just fine so I dont think you'd need anything bigger. It only comes with one fan in the front so you might also consider a 120mm fan for the rear and maybe one or two for the side. There's the Coolermaster Elite 335 to consider - pretty much the same in terms of cooling size and layout. Of course you can always go bigger/more expensive, but the guys here are considering your already stretched budget.

As for the cooler, well Marine went for the fenrir in his spec - that opinion is as good as any as far as I'm concerned. I've never used either.

Before too long a dual core will be struggling in games compared to a quad, which is why I suggested the Phenom II X4. But that's not really the case right now or for some time to come, so Marine's i3 overclocked bundle spec would be a great choice too, comfortably outperforming a Phenom II X4 in current games.

The 4.2 GHz bundle for £35 cheaper than the 4.4GHz bundle would get you down closer to your budget, but imho the 4.4GHz bundle is worth the extra for the better mobo (USB3, mosfet heatsink to better withstand overclocking) and better cooler, as well as the 200 extra MHz. Either bundle is barely any more expensive than the sum of it's individual parts, so you are getting a professionally setup warrantied overclock for next to nowt!
I think the 4.40GHz i3 530 is more than enough for him, as I don't see him upgrading his graphic card to beyond GTX480 level within the next 2-3 years (which is why I don't think he really need a Quad). Also, the reason I suggested that bundle over the slightly cheaper bundle was mainly because of the USB3.0 and the SATA 6Gb/s ports, but the extra 200MHz clock speed is a plus too.

oh and with the intel bundle what cooling fan will i get the akasa venom or the titan fenrir
You can choose which CPU cooler you want from the drop down box at the bundle page before dropping it into the basket...unless you are talking about the cheaper bundle, which comes with a Arctic Freezer Pro 7 Rev.2.

Just over budget but this spec should fit the bill.

I have an issue with the Antec300 case, its price use to start with a 3, now its basically £50, madness!!!!

its good, but not £50 good.

He started another thread with a £600 budget for some reason. In it he said he had a 20" monitor so not 1080p. Therefore I think the 768MB 460 is fine and that your build with that and the i3 OC bundle is great.

Yea. I recall seeing him posting a link to the spec of a 20" Samsung monitor (which I assume is 1680x1050), and I can't find the post. Didn't realise I was reading it in another topic lol

So yea...GTX460 768MB should be more than enough...it's not worth stretching another £50 for the 1GB version instead for 1680x1050.

I agree - we have the Asgard in the current 'winning' spec!

I looked at the 300 and the Asgard in the flesh for my rig and the 300 just didn't warrant the extra. Build quality no better (but actually looks cheaper thanks to the Asgard's black finish) so you're paying almost double for the PSU-at-the-bottom layout and an extra fan. I thought meh and got the Asgard.

The only negative about the Asgard is the screwless expansion card holders are too flimsy for a big GPU imho. Luckily you can chuck out the screwless holder and use good old screws. They should have not bothered with the gimmick altogether and included an extra fan instead.

yes guys my monitor is not the best but ill be getting a new one anyone reccomend any 22inch monitors?

No it comes with 2 fans the other 3 you need to buy yourself. Cooling wise it should be as good as others in the same price range so it all comes down to your preference really.
