Spec me a CCTV System

Cheers mate, I "upgraded" to a 6TB WD purple which bloody died so looking for something different. Will check those out.

Edit: Put the 6TB Purple in my Microserver to see if it was dead but is working although running CrystaldiscInfo it shows as caution, so on its way out!

Consider helium based drives, the MTBF numbers are much, much better than standard units, to the extent you can buy used and have better MTBF levels than a new non helium drive, I usually go for 10TB Hitachi/WD units as that seems to be the sweet spot, though 12TB's have become more attractive in recent months.

Can anyone recommend 2x POE cameras for around £50 each? My mum's cameras keep resetting themselves and I realised they are probably 10 years old at this point. They are hikvision bullet cameras that I bought on AliExpress, they have been great all things considered but time to buy a new pair which I can update with the latest firmware etc.

£75 for the pair - 5MP, decent night vision.

I have just installed a 4m lamp post on my road for a couple of cameras I was going to put in 2 x G6 bullets, the road is quite long and im getting more and more tempted to just get a PTZ

Sick of replacing batteries on my substandard Blink Cameras and can see Reolink are well recommended

Rental Property and looking to buy a house in next year so dont want the hassle of drilling holes etc so looking at Wifi Cams (instead of POE)

RLN12W - WiFi NVR

Reolink TrackMix WiFi(Grey) x 2

Reolink Solar PanelVersion: Solar Panel 2 (6W) -Black

Was thinking of the above. I know can use hom hub which is cheaper. But having this NVR means when i buy a can upgrade using POE Injectors and use wired cameras.

Any recommendations are welcomed .. Any good Sale times for these items as happy to wait to get a good deal

I can't speak to Reolink's WiFi cameras, but I had a WiFi setup (4 cameras + NVR) in my last property and it was horrendously unreliable, particularly when trying to live view remotely.

I'm quite happy with WD Purples. I have 2 NVRs which until earlier this year were fitted with 3TB Purples and had no issues over 4 or so years of 24/7 runtime. One is located under the floor and runs consistently warm, while the other is in my garage and can see a wide range of temperatures (drive temps of ~10c in winter and 45c in summer).

I wanted more retention time so replaced them with 4TB Purples.

Then share hard drive has just gone down in my NVR what hard drives are people using these days for CCTV.
I've had good results with refurbed Seagate enterprise drives (10Tb for £85 - current prices appear to have shot up) - both arrived with zero hours on them.

But previously had 2Tb Toshiba S300 surveillance drives for 4 years, which were still going strong when I swapped them out.

Hello

Dahua VTO2311R-WP and NVR5208-8P-4KS2E. I cannot for the life of me get it to trigger for any type of motion etc, just record constantly? I have motion alerts turned on everywhere but it just doesn't do anything.

I also thought that this nvr could do AI recognition for person detection etc even if the camera can't, any ideas?

I'm after one good up camera for the front of the house. Any suggestions?
