Spec me a cooker !

I had to sit through 1000s of Italian domestic appliance quality audit meetings where they had compiled figures from around the world and Bosch were ALWAYS at the top.
Miele were a close second but only because not as many are bought because of the price and AEG were third (that was bad English).
Indesit Company (taking in Creda, Hotpoint, Ariston, Belling, Cannon) were always around the 4th with companies like Zanussi & Candy below us.
Stoves were never on the list because they weren't big enough to compete against even though their quality is excellent.
I can quite confidently predict that now Indesit's products are made in Poland they will be way down the list.
About a month ago I heard that 95% of products end up on the floor in the Poland factory (on the floor means faulty, parts missing, quarantine).
Creda/Hotpoint used to accept a 5% 'on the floor' ratio but when the Italians came it rose to nearly 50% which became a nightmare.
I'd quarantine 1000 cookers for having a major problem (eg when turning on the single grill the double would come on and vice versa) and then suddenly they would all disappear to the public with the excuse "they will let us know when their kitchen burns down".
I once quarantined 3000 cookers where the grill had incremental settings wired wrong, so basically when you put it on the lowest setting the highest would be on instead which could cause a fire - they all went out.
The very worst were gas pipes under a hob that weren't passing our tests and were very dangerous.
The Italians let them all go through the door and one of my colleagues actually had tears in his eyes and made them sign a document that he didn't let them go.
In fact, we started to keep a book where we got the Italian boss to sign when he let dangerous cookers through the door.

you sure that Stoves are suppose to be one of the best? I know two people who had one and is constantly moaning about the poor build quailty and with it breaking down every 6 months or so.

My dad was fitting a replacement part for it (a engineer done this before) and the insides were very cheap and tacky.

the outside of the Stove ovens do look very nice though.

Hands up who read this as "spec me a hooker" :o

Lol

Good replies

Anyway saw the one we like (Zannussi ZKG5540XFN) and are happy with price. Buying it on Wed and it has the built in safty thingy for flats !

As we have a Zannussi W/M in the same colour it will look good. Only problem she has spotted the matching Condenser Dryer and wants it - at £700.

The joys of taking the wife to an electrical store.

dmpoole, your opinion on this one we had recently,

55 new flats all with same electric hob fitted into the worktop, but when using started burning the worktops, manufacturer said they passed British Standards so refused to replaced them, it cost us (the firm) £5k to replace them all

I'm no cooker svengali like dmpoole, but surely there are legal avenues that could be followed for this?

Only just seen this
I would have been straight onto Trading Standards and Watchdog because that should not happen.
I presume you were using standard worktops and not some cheap 1/4" plywood :)
Sounds like the heat was dissipating down the hob and onto the worktop.
We took temperature readings all over the hobs and they had to pass our standards and I can't say I ever heard one complaint like the one above (I'm wondering if there is a British Standard for such things).

What was the make of the hobs?
