After years of only having korma, I have recently tried passanda which is very nice, but i want to try something else now.

Can anyone recommend something similar please(not spicy)?

I reckon it's all made up ******** anyway.

Depending on restaurant/take away/brand of sauce, thet all taste different between so called "styles" and I doubt any of them are in the slightest bit authentic.

Not to say they are not nice.

I'm not great with non-spicy food. Jalfrezi is quite a nice one which isn't too spicy.
Hmm, Jalfrezi would be classed as a spicy curry imo, around the same level as a madras - though as Budforce just mentioned, it all depends on the actual restaurant as they all vary.

Personally I like a Dhansak, which probably sits just below a Jalfrezi - though I usually ask for mine Vindaloo hot from my local! :D

As for the OP, a Bhuna/Tikka Massala/Dopiaza/Biryani would be the next ones to try imo.

Jalfrezi should be hot. If it’s not, either you have an asbestos mouth or the takeaway doesn’t know how to cook curry.

In fact, I’d say jalfrezi just pips a madras in spicyness due to the whole green chillies. Get one of them bad boys and you know about it.

I dunno, It depends in my experience, some places they are very mild (like a supermarkey one), some places they have more of a kick. Deffo shouldn't be as hot as a Madrass though.

Bit of column A maybe a bit of column B. I don't find Jalfrezi particularly spicy from the ones I've had. I'd consider a Madrass as spicy but again, nothing out of this world.

From what it's worth, I was brought up eating very spicy food from a young age so it could well be me that is out of sync with what is spicy and what isn't. Ceylon from my local is my usual go to. Some of my friends think of it as too hot to have as a full curry but I think it's just about right.

Spice is good for the soul, anyway. Only place I've been that had food that even I found borderline too spicy was South Korea. Had some phenomenal chicken there and I asked for the hottest sauce they had. The lady asked if I was sure I wanted what I had asked for but I doubled down and said yes. I don't think I've ever felt my lips on fire before like that time.

I find this crazy. I actively have something different every time. I'm basically down to the chef's specials now.

Most menus in these kinda places are sorted by spice or have chili symbols etc so just try something new based on what you fancy at the time.

Some are packed full of tomatoes, some are buttery, some sweet like a Malay, some bulked with potatoes etc etc.

Very few I'd say are TOO spicy but that's also my taste.

I always get confused when people say they don't like spicy food, I suspect what they really mean, is they don't like 'hot' food, as in too much chilli.

If doing a take-a-away most places should be OK to make any dish without the heat.

If making at home, then make as above drop the heat.
