That's not true my brushless Makita XPH07Z will rip your arm off but like everything it all comes down to what you pay at the end of the day.

Im guessing if you had a brushed version of the same tool it would be stronger? You have got a beast of a drill there Millwall.

A brushless drill can be stronger than a brushed drill.

If you take the exact same drill, make one brushed and the other brushless.. The brushless version can have larger copper windings because they can be on the outside of the motor. You can't do this with a brushed motor.

You could give each drill the same power, it is just the brusless one can be more powerful.

Cheap as possible but a decent one!

When you say chisel/hammer, do you mean chisel or do you mean hammer?

Combi = hammer drill and driver, and on that basis, I'd look at something like the below as a baseline before you get to more expensive drills, but avoiding the cheap tat. There's a 1x4ah Bosch in Screwfix on offer, but this may not be much of an advantage for home use IMO. It'll be heavier and you'll be waiting for the battery to charge if it runs out.

The bosch looks a good buy. The Stanley is always on offer it seems and I don't know much about it. I'd probably spend that little bit more than the erbauer and go for the bosch/hitachi.

Any of the trade type branded combis at around £100 will be fine for DIY use IMO.

I've used the older brushed version of this drill and its very good slightly less powerful not noticeable but its an older drill so not much of a comparison and they dont do a new like for like brushed version. only problem with these new brushless drills is they come with more sophisticated overload protection which means you cant abuse them as much as a brushed drill which is where people might preferbrushed.
