hello all iv been looking around and i cant make my mind up im looking to play elite dangerous and star citizen would like a hotas and peddels

yea i looked at the worthog it dose look cool

I've been a warthog owner for 3 years now and have no issues with long gaming sessions, but what i did do was replace the grease in the stick with a good quality silicon grease as the stock grease caused a little resistance. However at the price they are now the CH setup is MUCH better value for money. Functionality wise both sticks are very similar and build quality on both is outstanding. If your buying the Warthog over the CH its for aesthetic reasons.

There is also the Worthog. But some users find it hard work if playing for hours
I think Warthog has less resistance than original HOTAS Cougar which was definitely at "good work up" level.
Though then again some Saiteks have had horribly bad feeling without any real resistance.
For one thing Thrustmasters definitely are real HARDware with their metal construction... :p

CH Products has also been around since start of PC gaming with many product designs being tried and tested.

i got the Thrustmaster one for testing Star Citizen, it's ok but i don't like the sticking point midpoint in the throttle. at the price though it was simply a good HOTAS at the cheapest price possible so i could get into the game and see what it's like, if it lives up to the hype i'll get a much better bit of kit when the game's released....if it ever is...

Outside doesn't matter much, Warthog from memory has many plastic internals and it's those that are the weak spots. CH is tried and tested, Saitek is very much a case of buy it test it and send it back if it's not flawless (QC problems) and then there are the smaller manufacturers like VKB who make superb gear at a premium.

Preference mostly. Remember CH sticks don't have a twist axis so you need pedals to team them with at a minimum.

They look awful too, although that's partly why I love them lol

I use a CH Pro throttle, CH Combatstick (fighterstick has more HATS but I prefer buttons) and VKB MKIV pedals.

hi imo for Star citizen u should forget the hotas and go with 2 joysticks and the pedals, 2 Thrustmaster T16000M and a set of pedals and u cant go wrong. athough last time i used em the software(target was it called) wasn't great, a warthog and a Thrustmaster T16000M would work even better though

Warthog and t16000m is not a good match due to the imbalance in feel between the two for dual stick.

Warthog is way more user friendly in game due to the amount of mapable keys in the grip unlike the t16000m where they're on the base.
(Can use voice attack instead to take binds away from base)

A pair of t16000m is a cheap starting point to test dual stick.

You can use mounts from monstertech to mount them on the edge of your desk to get height adjustment. This also allows you to use extensions on the hogs for less resistance and better precision.

If using a hog you'll need rudder pedals (mfg are excellent) or use one of the hats for 6 axis.

Left hand hog conversions are now available and quality is excellent.

Hog gimbal can be upgraded to vkb gunfighter which gives you best of both worlds but obviously an expensive setup if you do all that. (Very nice though!).

The immersion from this setup is excellent and also good for flight in any other games. (Arma/DCS etc)

TM target is perfectly fine for mapping but I prefer scmapper, means you don't have to remap on every update.

I went with these in the end after my X55 started playing up even more -

No twist for yaw but i use the thumb hat on the joystick where secondary is on the X55 for the Yaw and it actually feels much better than when using the twist axis IMO :)

Not finished the Binds yet will do more soon
