Spec me a Gaming Headset

Elara clip-on microphone, Google it like that.

It's a good little clip-on mic. :)

Just to add to this, I've been using it for a bit and I have it round the back of my PC just on the desk tucked away and it picks up my voice from my chair still loud and clear!

I sit about 120cm away from the PC tower, so this is brilliant, my voice is clear and it's quite loud actually lol, it comes with a sticky pad if you want to attach it to anything and a little cradle.

£2.99...what a bargain, it's actually made by Speedlink but unlike the Medusa headset it's not crap. :p

@OP: just get the creative fatality ones i suggested. they the best bang for buck in my opinion. ive used cheaper headsets from the likes of logitech and they really were no good and actually the mic on them broke after 2 months or so of use.

Do NOT get speedlink. I speak from experience when i say the tales of dodgy bass are no myth. Mine dissapeared completely in one side and then the headset kinda disintigrated bit by bit until it has reached the stage where I have to ductape it to my head.

never had any of those problems.

Bass is fine with mine as well.

with the medusas i think its almost down to the user, it is true they are pretty fragile, but look after them and they do last, had my original ones for 2yrs before a couple of heavy drops started loosening 1 of the speakers. Gave them to my sister, she completely destroyed them within 2 weeks, ripped connectors, complete loss of bass and loss of both rear channels, with fading left centre

Now have Senn PC161s but they just are not as comfortable for me so will likely replace them at some point as after long sessions my ears will be sore (the fact i am a glasses wearer probably does not help)

well i dont know why people dont like medusa's i have pro gamer version http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-026-SL

for a year now and they are like new good quality dont know about bass as i dont listen music from the headset. i use it purely for gaming and they are good hearing people in cs:s before they show up with surround sound.

and if you want to listen music just buy speakers as i think headsets are more for gaming :)

i gave a few good reasons, my problem wasn't just for music, the bass is naff and the sq overall just really isn't very good.

but the most annoying thing on the medusa's is that the rear speakers have no bass, so if you turn around on gunfire you can really notice how the bass just vanishes after turning from front to rear.

i didn't find them to be that good for positioning either, my senn 595's sound much better for a 5.1 effect using Dolby Headphone on my Xonar and they are stereo headphones! :D

The bass was fine on mine aside from the rear channels having zero bass which is a design flaw rather than a problem with individual headsets, judging from the amount of user opinions and a few reviews I read.

Bass was there (not for the rear) but it still wasn't very good, I'm not lying when my tiny in-ear headphones produced more bass, I tried multiple solutions to increase the bass on my Audigy but it still didn't really help. (including suggestions from Speedlink themselves)

Anyone else know of a good desktop mic. I'll try the Elara clip on one, it's just for £3 it seems too good to be true :p

It's freaking good! I swear. :p

I had mine roun dthe back of my PC but Skype wasn't picking it up as well, so now it's just resting near the front with the wire running under the PC case, I'm really surprised by how good it is for the price and of course unlike a desktop mic it takes up no space.

It does pick up from a rather long distance though, Windows sound recorder was loud and clear but Skype wasn't quite so good at picking it up so I moved it a bit closer. (it's fine now though)
