spec me a gpu please

im after a gpu which can plug and play on a 42" 1080p tv.

could someone please spec me one. im witlling to spend up to 250ish

PC's and graphics cards are not very often able to just plug and play with a TV, they usually do require some kind of setting up before a TV will recognise it properly

you could try a 660ti but you may well run in to similar problems

VGA cable would be the most obvious first port of call as this often is configured on the TV end to be the most flexible when dealing with a PC, then when you're sure the drivers are all installed right you can hook up the HDMI cable

i will take my tv off the wall later and see if it has a vga connection.

most tvs do have them tho dont they?

No you just need a cable which is dvi at one end to plug into your card, and HDMI an the other end to plug into your TV. I got mine from eBay for about 5 quid.

i tired a dvi end to my card then on to hdmi, this did not work. the gpu must have a fault.

i had my panasonic 42" ( TX-P42UT30B ) off the wall, there is no vga or dvi input so the only way i am to use this tv with a gpu with my tv is with an hdmi cable.

has anyone had any problems similar problems with a card or can anyone point me in the right direction of a card that will work hdmi from gpu to tv. im willing to spend up to £300 on a card.

Could you not just get a card with HDMI and run it to your TV with native HDMI? The MSI 7850 I have uses native HDMI on both ends (for my GPU and my monitor).

My last two Sapphire cards plugged n played perfectly well with hdmi on a 40" lcd even before I installed the drivers.

I think you just got unlucky with that card mate.

Can you get it replaced?

I've never had a problem with a card just being plug and play with a tv either.

not yet. i have the gpu here to give back to my mrs. shr bought it so she can deal with it. i have stressed enough over it.

My 5770 and 6870 were basically plug and play with my 50" lg plasma. The only thing i had to adjust was the overscan. Both were hdmi to hdmi.

If you have a black border round your picture use overscan to get rid of it. It basically helps you get your picture to the right size for your screen.

i had the kinda thing with my tv when i hooked up up without the gpu. i just had to go into the setting on the onboard graphics.
