Hi guys,

I'm in the process of moving over from XP to Vista and I'd like to line up a new mail client for the transition because I’m not a big fan of Windows Mail…

For years I've used Outlook Express but with Vista I think I need a change?

Basically I'd like it to be free and compatible with my existing OE emails and address book?

Suggestions please ;)

Cheers,

SW.

Personally I've switched to using Gmail or Google Apps (own domain) though. I find it much easier and I've all I need.

If you want ana ctual client then step up to Outlook, nevwr much liked Thunderbird.

Might be worth having a look at Windows Live Mail ( http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview ) if you haven't already. It's much better than the included (and confusingly similarly named) Windows Mail.

Having said that, if you just don't like the WM format it may not be right for you as it is broadly similar in look and feel to the bundled version. It is a huge improvement in terms of capability and features though and handles my hotmail, gmail and newsgroup accounts well enough for me.

Personally I don't know why you wouldn't like Windows Mail. Have you actually used it yet? It's better than Outlook Express whilst retaining the simplicity. But then if you want to jump on the Mozilla bandwagon...

Right guys, having a bit of trouble importing my address book into Thunderbird and Outlook... My contacts have been copied straight from my Windows XP address book - I'm testing things out on my Vista laptop ;)

Cheers,

SW.
