Spec me a new mail client.

Webmail is so much more convenient. Im interested to know why home users would use a mail client ?

Cos when the Internet is down you can't login to Gmail or whatever.

Outlook 2007, if you want an excellent calender, task list, combination of your e-mails and task list (follow ups), journalling and address book as well as a very good all-round e-mail client.

Because when you have more than 1 mail account you can check them both at the same time and I don't need to open my browser to visit my webmail pages to check my mail, searching is a million times faster.

Gmail is incredibly quick and you can retrieve pop mail into it as well ?

Uni network so possibly fairly often.

However you missed my joke.

If the Internet goes down so I can't sign into Gmail I also can't send or receive emails.

Yep. A mate of mine gets his Uni email directed to his Gmail.

Thunderbird is so bad at junk mail these days I find, Windows mail and Live mail are much better.

I find my email provider is pretty good with junk mail so I don't really see these issues with Thunderbird.
