Spec me a notebook/netbook with good battery life and enough power for HD for £400 pl

Shadow_boxer, did you manage to have a play with the UL80?

And wesley, any further impressions on the UL30?

very good, the more i play with this laptop, the more impressed i am!

watch an hour TV programme on iplayer (HD) and browse net for 2 hours so far, with full brightness. 78% battery (6 hrs 7 mins left) wtf!

i completely formatted and reinstall with my win7, all hardware detected no problem, didnt use any asus crap software.

installed linux mint 9 via win4mint or whatever it called. all hardware detected fine.

brilliant little laptop, oh....played portal just fine lol!

Think I'm hoping to order one too, just hoping a mate's going to buy my Dell, saves the hassle of the bay, postage, etc!

And now I've found an Acer Timeline 5810T (5810TZG-413G32Mn) for £428 delivered, looks good, 15.6", SU4100, Radeon 4330, and a supposed 8hr battery life! Any opinions on that one please? ;)

Acer 1810tz if you can find one in your budget (I bought a refurb one for £360 about 4 months ago)

A genuine 8+ hours battery, Intel SU4100 dual core, 3gb ram, 250gb HD (in my model), 11.6" screen. I really like it, its a nice sturdy little thing. Came with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 installed.

Certainly eats HD flash with no problems with the latest Intel drivers on. Plays Half Life 2 at the screens native res (I forget, 1360x768 or something?) with medium details at a reasonable pace. Not lightning fast but playable.

Thanks for the reply.

The more I think about it, the more a larger screen's going to be the better option, so I'm going to set 13.3" as the minimum, portability isn't high on my priority list, my Dell's never left the house!

got the ASUS UL30A, i cant believe how good it is for £350!!! i expected the laptop would made of toliet paper :D

just perfect for me, not too small, not too big, just right with dual core 1.2ghz. surprisely speedy. love the keyboard. good screen. blew my mind.

love express gate as well lol

where from ?

Just ordered the UL80VT, glad I waited a few days before ordering, it's now down to £399 and there's a 5% discount code too, making it £379 delivered, definitely worth a £30 premium over the UL30! :D

I wasn't sure about the Celeron either, but for what it'll be used for, it should be powerful enough, and I've got a quad core htpc if I need to do something more intensive!

According to most of the reviews, it doesn't suffer because of it, I'll find out soon enough hopefully. :)

Darn, if I had known the UL80VT was coming down in price to 379 I would have waited.

Oh well, I certainly don't regret buying this UL30A, it's still great. I've also just thrown in another 1GB ddr3 so now it's snappier than ever.

The UL30 looks great for the price at CPW.

I need a new laptop once I can fix my Acer 6920. :(
