Spec me a plex player which will allow me to use 5.1/DTS

Sorry, just noticed this. Yes, I have an older Fire TV with the optical port :o

I just bought "HDMI to HDMI &Optical SPDIF RCA Analog Audio Extractor Converter Splitter &cable" off the auction site. Fingers crossed :)
 
Update to this for anyone googling this, received the HDMI audio extractor today. It works fantastically, Receiver detecting Dolby D and DTS streams perfectly.

(The receiver mode flicks to showing Dolby D or DTS on the screen instead of Dolby Pro Logic II when its only getting stereo).

Equipment:
  • "HDMI to HDMI &Optical SPDIF RCA Analog Audio Extractor Converter Splitter &cable" (Auction site)
  • Now TV White box (V1)

Software/Settings:
  • Rarflix 3.1 sideloaded
  • NowTV audio settings set to DD 5.1 / DTS on both audio mode and HDMI mode settings
  • Switch on audio extractor set to "5.1"
  • Plex playback options set to Automatic/Direct Play (not transcode)
 
you guys tried the nvidia shield, i watched some vids on the other night, they reckon its a really good plex server due its hardware ? and especialy good for 4k ect
