Spec Me A Spec For A 2.5" HDD (Non SSD)

Hi,

I need to increase the size of my laptop hard drive and am looking for a traditional 2.5" HDD / 5400rpm with storage capacity somewhere between 250mb to 500mb. I really do not need the full 500mb but if there is not much difference in price I may as well have the extra space.

I prefer to stick with 5400rpm rather than 7200rpm to keep the noise and vibration to a minimum.

Any recommendations please for an acknowledged proven performer?

Assuming you mean GB and not MB and that the HDD is SATA, I reccommend the Western Digital drives, got a 500GB one and performing well.

Depending on how old the laptop is, the HDD interface maybe IDE (older) or sata (newer). Do check before buying a HDD!

Apologies, yes I meant GB. Also the laptop is just under 2 years old and is SATA although I do not run it in AHCI mode.

What is the noise level like on the WD Blue, is it a quiet drive or average noise? It looks OK and seems a decent price.
