Spec me a story rich game

SOMA! - Story/concept is sooo good... if you've got big enough spheres to play it!

Far Cry3 has as ace story if you missed it.

I second the Metro games and the first of the two new Wolfenstein games in particular is a really cool experience.

Star Wars the Force Unleashed - if you're a fan of Star Wars the story is a real treat.

The Darksiders and Castlevania Lords of Shadows games also have decent stories.

Some great suggestions on here

LA Noire
Max Payne 3
Batman Arkham series
FarCry 3/4/Primal
GTA5
Mad Max

Out of these I would go with Max Payne or Farcry3, and you will get them both dirt cheap too

A good story driven game on PC? That would be Life is Strange. The first chapter is free, so there's really no excuse to not give it a try.

I'm bracing myself for the comments here, but.

The Call of Duty series have, what I think at least, some really good Story lines behind them, Particularly modern warfare 1 and 2.

Also Titanfall2 has THE best story in any FPS I have played since HalfLife 2, it really is that good

Star Wars The Old Republic - FTP MMo, don't let that bit put you off. Each class has a really good story to play through which you get to make choices which define your path. It's a very casual affair with decent gfx, fun gameplay with no need to group up.

I forgot to mention Bioshock infinite. (Which seems strangely relevant at the moment)

+1 absolutely this - story blew my mind, can't believe I didn't think of it.

i'm about to go in to this one. I heard its pretty intense :D

Yeah it is but it's so good, I really miss playing it. Enjoy!

F.E.A.R.

The most engrossing story for an fps I've ever played. Still a great game to play.

Yes! I think this is my favourite game ever.

Not played this since it came out, don't remember much about it. Might have to install it again :)

From what I remember F.E.A.R. 2 and 3 did not get as good reviews. Got them in my steam library but never got round to playing them.

Personally, the games that had me the most invested in the story and/or characters:

The Wolf Among Us
Mass Effect series
Bioshock Infinite

It's a bit of a blast from the past, but Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines is a great story-driven game. Some of the best scriptwriting and voice acting in a game I recall too.

It was badly bugged on release though - and the reviews reflected that. Official patches fixed the worst of it. Unofficial fan patches also restored a lot of content that got cut in the rush to get it finished.

Other than that - the first season of Telltale's The Walking Dead is great (later stuff perhaps has a hint of lacking new ideas). Another oldie that shouldn't be missed is the original Knights of the Old Republic.

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is very evocative, brilliantly delivered narrative but may be too slow paced for some.
